Após cinco finalizações, Demian Maia estava na expectativa de disputar o cinturão do UFC, mas o evento tinha outros planos para o faixa-preta brasileiro. No UFC 102, que acontece no dia 29 de agosto, Demian vai com tudo para cima de Nate Marquardt, experiente norte-americano que vem de vitória sobre o brazuca Wilson Gouveia. “A expectativa é sempre a melhor”, conta Demian à TATAME.

 

“Os outros que enfrentei também considero bem duros, excelentes lutadores, e ele é mais um, mas, com certeza, é o mais duro dos que enfrentei. Ele é muito completo e agressivo”, elogia Demian, que vai com tudo para mostrar, mais uma vez, seu jogo de chão afiado. “Acredito no que faço e treino... Muitos treinam, mas não acreditam que vai funcionar, que terão que trocar porrada, mas eu acredito que vou chegar lá para fazer o meu Jiu-Jitsu, não para sair na mão. É claro que estou preparado para sair na porrada, mas, se não precisar sair na porrada e fazer um Jiu-Jitsu clássico, é melhor”.

 

O brasileiro, que estava na expectativa para uma disputa de cinturão contra Anderson Silva, terá que fazer mais uma luta antes do desafio, mas está tranquilo quanto a isso. “Lógico que queria o cinturão, mas, se não foi agora, o momento vai chegar. E cara, o Nate é de altíssimo nível e estou lá para me testar contra os melhores, não só para chegar, ganhar um cinturão e, quem sabe, depois perder. Quero amadurecer e provar que posso ter o cinturão. Para mim, essa é uma luta que eu, ganhando, vou ficar ainda mais perto de ter condições de ser o campeão”, afirmou o faixa-preta, comentando a próxima luta do campeão Anderson Silva, contra Forrest Griffin, entre os meio-pesados.

 

“Acho que essa luta está mais para o Anderson, que é melhor em pé que o Griffin. No chão, talvez os dois sejam do mesmo nível, porque o Forrest é bom. O Anderson tem tudo para ganhar, mas tem que tomar cuidado com o Forrest, porque ele não para, acredita bastante nele mesmo e treina muito, vai até o fim e pode surpreender”, finalizou Demian.
