Lyoto Machida barely celebrated his UFC light heavyweight belt and already sees his name on the main websites in the United States, rumoring about a possible clash. According to MMAWeekly, his next challenger will be Maurício “Shogun” Rua, possibly at UFC 103. After two bad fights in the UFC, being submitted by Forrest Griffin and then knocking the 17-years-older Mark Coleman in the third round, Shogun demolished Liddell at UFC 97.
In exclusive interview to TATAME.com before the rumors Machida said he was open to fight whoever the UFC wanted, including the Brazilian. “I don’t see any problem with that, I face it professionally. It’s our business, we have to do it. I have a friendship with him, but if they want it, I’m ok with it”, said the champion, before being praised by Shogun, also open to fight. “Lyoto was phenomenal, won Rashad well and proved he’s the best of this division. I wanna fight against the bests”.
