In May, Rousimar "Toquinho" Palhares had a serious injury during the training at Brazilian Top Team. While the wrestling trainings, the fighter, who was scheduled to fight Alessio Sakara at UFC 101, fractured the tibia and twisted his foot. Almost a month after the surgery, Palhares spoke with TATAME.com about the recovery.
"In two weeks I’ll take off the pins, then I’ll start the physical therapy and return to train slowly, doing little things", revealed the Brazilian, remembering the moment of the injury. "I was training in BTT and broke the tibia and twisted my foot, he turned backwards... I never injured like this, but now I'm well, thanks God. I stayed a few days with my mother and my brothers". Addicted to trainings, Rousimar is having a tough mission: stay away from the gym for two months.
Born in Dores do Indaiá, in Minas Gerais, the fighter lives in Rio de Janeiro since he started to train in BTT and, living side by side with the training center, his life is almost inside the BTT. "In about two weeks I want to return to the training (laughs)", says Toquinho. "I don’t stop going up and down the stairs with the crutch, that's all it has to do (laughs). I stay watching fights, go to the gym to watch the guys training and go up and down on the stairs, which already provides a good practice (laughs)", finalized Toquinho. With the injury, the BTT athlete has been replaced by Thales Leites
