Owner of the first ever female 145 lbs title in Strikeforce, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos went back home with a great victory over the once undefeated Gina Carano, who were the “face of the female MMA” in the United States . After the fight, Cyborg spoke with TATAME.com about the conquest.
“Everything happened as I planned… I trained hard for five rounds, were ready, but I didn’t knew that it would end in the first. I came for the knockout all the time”, remembers Santos . Booed all the time, since the weigh-ins until the last second of fight, the Brazilian athlete guarantees she didn’t expected anything different.
“When I entered, Gina was the favorite, everybody booed me, but I expected that. She’s from here, but I’ve trained a lot and I had no pressure over me… Inside there, it’d be just me and her, and that’s what happened”, celebrates, knocking Carano with one second less in the opening round. “The first thing I did was to thank God, I couldn’t believe… I wanted to cry and laugh at the same time”, finished the Chute Boxe champion.
