With Shooto Brasil’s middleweight title, André Chatuba was almost signing with UFC, but the knockout loss to Carlos Índio (Shooto Brasil 13) delayed the Luta Livre athlete’s plans. Dropping to the welterweight division, Róbson Relma’s pupil won again and got Real Fight’s 170 pounds title (read more here).
“I fight in this category for a long time, that’s the right weight to me. I used to fight at 185lbs just because I was abused”, tells the champion, who defeated Mário Soldado in São José dos Campos . “It wasn’t the way I wanted… I wanted to fight, but unfortunately that happened, the guy got hurt and the doctor stopped it”.
With the victory, Chatuba dreams again on sign with the biggest MMA event of the world. “I would be in the UFC (if I haven’t lost on Shooto), but now I have to win three times, at least, and keep the sequence of the work”, explains, telling that he’ll be back to the rings in November, against Sérgio Junior, in Natal .
“I’m in a hurry to go to UFC, because I’m expecting this for so long. I wanna get these three victories to have my chance and take it”, Chatuba guarantees, analyzing the category on UFC, which is dominated by George St. Pierre . “There’s a lot of great and tough guys… The guys up there are really strong, it won’t gonna be easy… It’ll be tough, but I’m here, going for it”.
