In 2007, Maurício Shogun was considered the best light heavyweight fighter of the world. On October 24, the Curitiba native will have the chance, against Lyoto Machida, to be back to the tops after two years. Fighting for the UFC title, Shogun eyes the tops, but knows it won’t be easy against the undefeated Karate talent.
On an exclusive report, Lyoto and Shogun were face to face in TATAME Magazine’s September’s edition of, and Shogun praised the champion. “You’re a guy who comes from Karate, but put your Karate perfectly on Vale Tudo. Everybody knows that you’re very good, you’re a top guy, and I’ll train to beat you“, said Maurício, impressed by Machida ’s recent victories. “On the last ones I think you surprised everyone, because you changed your game a little, you went for it, looked for the knockout“.
On the interview, that you can read on TATAME Magazine’s September’s edition, Shogun answered about the critics he received after the fight against Mark Coleman, the recovery against Chuck Liddell, his previews to the fight on UFC 104 and, between other things, remembering his relationship with Chute Boxe and the end of the partnership with Sérgio Cunha.
