Three times BJJ World champion, Beatriz Mesquita will debut in a new area for her: the no-gi land, precisely on Brazilian’s Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi, that will happen on October 31, on Tijuca Tênis Clube Gymnasium, on Rio de Janeiro . The Leticia Ribeiro’s athlete, who was recently graduated brown belt, started to train Submission for a short time, but promises to be a big obstacle to her opponents.
Talking with TATAME.com, Mesquita talked about her debut. “I’m fine, starting to train now on Submission, and I’m anxious. I came from BJJ and I’m adapting slowly. The only difference is the grip, and that’ll be an obstacle“, confess the athlete, confident to the competition.
“I have to be more alert on some positions, as on the foot lock. When I was a purple belt I could do only the leg-lock, and on Submission it comes from many positions, but I’m confident and training right. I’m crazy to see my performance. I’ll start slowly, I intend to enter on championships without kimono next year. This year there’s the World, but I’ll hold myself (laugh)“, finalized.
