Die La Onda Fight Night, eine der erfolgreichsten "Martial Arts"-Eventserien in Deutschland hat für den 1. November 2009 die ambitionierteste Veranstaltung ihres siebenjährigen Bestehens geplant. Zusammen mit Groundandpound, DeutschlandsKampfsportportal Nr. 1, ist es Veranstalter Sascha Poppendieck gelungen, den Manto Cup nach Deutschland zu holen.

Der Manto-Cup, benannt nach Hauptsponsor und Namensgeber Manto, einer der angesagtesten Fightwear-Marken weltweit, ist ein Acht-Mann-Turnier alter Schule, das vom Aufbau dem K-1 World Grand Prix sehr ähnlich ist. Um den Titel mit nach Hause zu nehmen, muss der Sieger an einem Abend dreimal im Cage erfolgreich sein.

Das Teilnehmerfeld des Grand Prix in der Gewichtsklasse bis 85kg ist dabei sehr international: So werden neben Lokalmatador Maik Stumbries, der zum letzten Mal bei seiner Heimatveranstaltung La Onda antreten wird, bevor er zum Jahresende die Handschuhe an den Nagel hängt, Sportler aus Brasilien, Polen, Serbien und der Türkei starten. Doch auch das Rahmenprogramm hat es absolut in sich: So macht Veranstalter und WFCA-Europameister im Thaiboxen Sascha Poppendieck sein Comeback nach fast zweijähriger Verletzungspause.

Zudem wird der ungeschlagene Rostocker Mathias Schuck, der vor kurzem auch bei der M-1 Challenge in Amsterdam seinen erfolgreichen Einstand auf internationaler Bühne feiern konnte, seinen perfekten Kampfrekord gegen einen europäischen Topgegner aufs Spiel setzen. Schuck gehörte über Jahre dem Kader des Ringer-Erstligisten PSV Rostock an und zeigt seit zwei Jahren nun auch seine überragende Kraft und Technik auf den Veranstaltungen von La Onda.
