On the cold and rainy night of Bragança Paulista, in São Paulo , nothing better than great fights to cheer the art martial fans up. Ichigeki Brasil made its fourth edition last night and gave a real show of fights and knockouts to the crowd. With three GPs and seven super fights, the event, organized by the black belt and world’s Karate Kyokushin champion, Francisco Filho, was a success.
BEGINNER MADE HIS PARTY ON MMA
At the MMA event, Wagner Prado, who was making his debut in MMA after 12 fights in Muay Thai rings, did a great job. On the first semifinal of the GP, Wagner faced Fernando Tressino and went for it. And he did it fast, taking Fernando down with a great knee to the head and finishing it in the ground and pound. Fighting Mário Dias in the final, Wagern once again needed few minutes to get another knockout victory with a head kick.
BRAZILIANS DOMINATE ON KYOKUSHIN
Between the Karate fights, the big prominence was Diogo Silva. In action on Kyokushin’s GP, the fighter passed for rough moments to beat Anderson Silva on the first fight, going to the final with the victory by points. On the big final, Diogo, who came with an painful injury from the first fight, needed a few seconds to conquest the victory by ippon against Éder Gama.
“I got hurt on the first fight, a serious injury, but thanks God I could fight until the end. I wanted to thank all the athletes for fighting with will”, said the tournament champion, who trains Karate for twenty years. On international challenges of Kyokushin , Brazil made its party. Starting on the match between Róbson Batista and Sérgio Acevedo, the Bahia native didn’t gave any chances to the Chilean, dominating the first two rounds. With ten seconds left, the Brazilian athlete hit a wonderful kick on the opponent’s face, who fainted.
GREAT KNOCKOUTS ON KICKBOXING
The KickBoxing tournament was full of action and great victories by KO. On the semi final, Thiago de Jesus demolished João Bosco. Showing a good elusive game, Thiago guaranteed his place on the final on the first round, knocking the opponent out with a knee-blow. On the final, Thiago showed a great reaction power. On the best fight of the ninht, Daniel and Thiago exchanged a lot since the bell sounded. Better in the beginning, Daniel knocked Thiago down almost unconscious. “The guy passed me out standing up, I didn’t see anything there”, told Thiago. The judge opened the counting and the athlete recovered himself. Back to the combat, Thiago, needed a little bit more than a minute to knock Daniel out and take the tournament’s title.
On the super fight, Jan Soukup faced the local talent Espedito “Pantera”. Dominating from the beginning, the Czech didn’t give any chances to the Brazilian, who passed to grab the opponent during a good part of the final rounds, being punished with an yellow card.
