"José Aldo is the new WEC featherweight champion”. On hear the words of the announcer, José Aldo cried in Las Vegas
In front of the American Mike Brown, Who was pointed as the Best fighter of the category, the Brazilian showed that, besides being 11 years younger, his speed would make the difference. “Mike Brown is a though guy, but I believe that on my team there’s guys more though than ATT to train, so, when the fight started, I saw that his strength wasn’t what everyone used to say… I’ve trained to fight ten rounds, five was easy”, jokes the new world’s number one, who conquered his 16th victory in 17 fights.
Before the fight, Aldo heard a lot of people asking about his ground game, that hasn’t been seeing on WEC fights yet. After the takedown, Aldo took the mount and punished the American, answering the critics: “just keep not believing and take me to the ground”, jokes. After the biggest conquest of his career, the Brazilian guarantees that his aim is to defend the title for a long time, but doesn’t say no to other challenges. “Depending on the money, everything is possible. I’m a professional and I’m here to fight, whatever it is, until 155 pounds , 145 pounds or 135 pounds . I can fight in all three categories, is just to pay for it”, finished.

“José Aldo é o novo campeão dos penas do WEC”. Ao ouvir a frase do announcer, José Aldo foi às lágrimas em Las Vegas. No dia seguinte à luta mais importante da sua carreira, o novo campeão do WEC conversou com a TATAME por telefone, comemorando a vitória. “Chegar ao topo e ganhar da maneira que ganhei é a melhor sensação do mundo. Não que eu não esperasse, mas quando termina a luta é que você realmente vê que aquilo tudo é verdade”, comemora o manauara.
Diante do americano Mike Brown, que era apontado como o melhor lutador da categoria, o brasileiro mostrou que, apesar de ser 11 anos mais jovem, sua velocidade faria a diferença. “O Mike Brown é um cara duro, mas eu acredito que na minha equipe tem caras mais duros que a ATT para treinar, então, quando a luta começou, vi que a força dele não era o que todo mundo falava... Treinei para lutar dez rounds, cinco era mole”, brinca o novo número um do mundo, que conquistou a 16ª vitórias em 17 lutas.
Antes da luta, Aldo ouviu muitas pessoas perguntando sobre seu jogo de chão, que ainda não tinha aparecido nas suas lutas no WEC. Após derrubar, montar e castigar o americano, Aldo responde aos críticos: “que continuem duvidando e tentando me levar para o chão”, sorri. Após a maior conquista da sua carreira, o brasileiro garante que seu objetivo é defender o título por muito tempo, mas não descarta outros desafios. “Dependendo do dinheiro, tudo é possível. Sou profissional e estou aqui para lutar, independente se for até 70kg, 65kg ou 61kg. Consigo bater as três categorias, é só pagar”, finalizou.
