Idol in England and one of the most talented Brazilian athletes of the lightweight category, Jean Silva announced, exclusive to TATAME’s website, that he’s close to retire from MMA rings. After 11 years dedicated to MMA e 40 fights on the career, Jean explained, in a exclusive interview, the reasons that made his mind to retirement, the best moments and the big fights that he made around the world, the training at Chute Boxe and plans to the future.
Why did you decided to retire? How did you took this decision?
Actually I was almost forced to leave the rings. There’s no way keep fighting without a good team. On the fight on Shine, I went without corner, without no one. On WFE, I’ve trained with friends, then I had a result that was obvious, the defeat. To complete, my manager left me without answers and then the need to survive came. So I opened my training center. But I can tell you that’s not easy to leave something that I love to do, specially at this moment that’s coming, including my son, soon you’ll see some videos of him on Youtube. He’s only five, but he’s a promise.
How old are you retiring and with how many fights on your card?
I’m retiring with 40 fights on career. I made 10 fights between 1999 to 2001 here in Paraíba, on time, with names from here, I including fought the IVC. And 30 are those fights on Sherdog. Now I’m 33, I started with 22.
What were the best moments of your career?
The best moments were between 2003 and 2006, on Cage Rage, where I kept the belt. I’m the only one who has the belt as a memory in home.

How were the time that you trained and fought for Chute Boxe?
It was a very good time, I’ve learned almost everything there. There were great sparrings, so it wasn’t impossible not to develop. I miss that time…
Remember your best fights...
Were against Cris Braner, Milton Vieira and (Takanori) Gomi... It was a war… Besides to lost, it was a huge fight, the heaviest hand I’ve ever saw. But I think the best fight was against Flávio Álvaro… That one was huge.
Do you want to leave a message to the fans?
I’d like to say I’m sorry for leave like this, but I can’t do it alone. If it’s to disappoint you, is better to took off and keep my private life. A big hug and God bless you.

Após 11 anos dedicados ao MMA e 40 lutas na carreira, Jean explicou, numa entrevista exclusiva, os motivos que o levaram a se aposentar, os melhores momentos e as grandes lutas que fez ao redor do mundo, os treinos na época da Chute Boxe e os planos para o futuro.
Por que você decidiu se aposentar? Como foi tomar essa decisão?
Na verdade, eu fui praticamente induzido a deixar os ringues. Sem uma boa equipe não dá. Na luta do Shine, fui sem córner, sem ninguém. No WFE, treinei com amigos, aí tive um resultado que era óbvio, a derrota. Para completar, o meu empresário me deixa sem dar uma satisfação, e daí veio a necessidade de sobreviver. Então, abri o meu centro de treinamento. Mas posso te falar que não está sendo fácil deixar uma coisa que eu amo fazer, principalmente no momento que o esporte está explodindo, mas vou estar preparando grandes feras pra que possa aproveitar esse momento que estar por vir, inclusive meu filho, que logo vocês vão ver uns vídeos dele no YouTube. Ele só tem cinco anos, mas é uma promessa.
Você está se aposentando com quantos anos e quantas lutas no cartel?
Estou me aposentando com 40 lutas na carreira. Eu fiz 10 lutas de 1999 a 2001 por aqui na Paraíba, na época com grades nomes daqui, inclusive lutei o circuito do IVC. E 30 são essas lutas que tem no Sherdog. Hoje, estou com 33 anos, comecei com 22.
Quais foram os melhores momentos da sua carreira?
Os melhores momentos da minha carreira foram entre 2003 e 2006, no Cage Rage, onde fui o detentor do cinturão. Inclusive, sou o único que tem o cinturão em casam de lembrança.
Você é ídolo na Inglaterra. Pensa em voltar a morar lá?
Tenho uma boa popularidade na Inglaterra, deixei uma vida lá, tenho grandes amigos, mas não me vejo morando lá.
Como foi a época em que treinou e lutou pela Chute Boxe?
A época que treinei na Chute Boxe foi muito boa, aprendi quase tudo lá. Tinha grandes sparrings, então era impossível não evoluir. Vou te falar, tenho saudades daquele tempo.
Relembre suas melhores lutas...
Minhas melhores lutas foram contra o Cris Braner, Milton Vieira e contra o (Takanori) Gomi... Foi uma guerra... Apesar de não ter ganho, foi um lutão, o cara da mão mais pesada que já vi. Mas a melhor acho que foi contra o Flávio Álvaro... Essa sim foi um lutão.
Quer deixar um recado para os fãs?
Gostaria de me desculpar por sair assim, mas uma andorinha só não faz verão. Se for para decepcionar vocês, é melhor sair fora e dar continuidade à minha vida particular. Um grande abraço e que Deus abençoe vocês.
