When he debuted on the biggest event of the world, on February 21 of this year, the until then “unknown” Paulo Thiago was the underdog of the night, against Josh Koscheck, but he needed a little more than three minutes of fight to drop the American with a great sequence.
After the fight, a lot of American fans complained of the judge’s interruption, others said it was luck, but the fact was: the Brazilian knocked out who, until then, was at the top 5 of the division. Two fights later, Paulo’s destiny crossed with Koscheck’s again. On UFC 109, that Will happen on February 6, the BOPE’s policeman will face the American. “I’ve heard, UFC told me already”, Paulo told.
Excited to the revenge, the though guy talked about the fight to TATAME. “I thought it was cool, but is something hard to face. We’ll train hard, to learn with the mistakes that I made on the last fight and train to try to win again”, said Thiago, who’s coming from victory on UFC 106, same night that Koscheck fought – and won. About the supposed “luck”, Paulo doesn’t mind about the critics.
“It may have been luck, but as a military from here used to say, luck follow who trains. I trained a lot that sequence because we saw that we had that space”, analyzes. About the judge, the Brazilian doesn’t want controversy. “The judge stopped, what will I say? Will I tell him to let it on? Maybe He had conditions, but we’ll never know”, Said, ending the controversy: “He has to come again so”.

Quando estreou no maior evento do mundo, no dia 21 de fevereiro deste ano, o então “desconhecido” Paulo Thiago era o azarão da noite, diante de um experiente Josh Koscheck, mas precisou de pouco mais de três minutos de luta para derrubar o americano com uma bela sequência.
Após a luta, muitos fãs americanos reclamaram de interrupção do árbitro, outros disseram que foi um golpe de sorte, mas o fato era: o brasileiro nocauteou o então top 5 do mundo. Duas lutas depois, o destino de Paulo cruza novamente com o de Koscheck. No UFC 109, que acontece no dia 6 de fevereiro, o policial do BOPE encara o americano. “Estou sabendo, o UFC já me procurou”, contou Paulo.
Animado para a revanche, o casca-grossa comentou a luta para a TATAME. “Eu achei massa, é mais uma parada dura que vamos enfrentar. Vamos treinar forte, aprender com os erros que cometi na luta passada e treinar para tentar ganhar de novo”, afirmou Thiago, que vem de vitória no UFC 106, mesma noite em que Koscheck lutou – e venceu. Quanto ao suposto “golpe de sorte”, Paulo não se importa com as críticas.
“Pode até ter sido golpe de sorte, mas, como diz um coronel daqui, a sorte acompanha quem treina. Eu treinei muito aquela sequência porque a gente viu que tinha aquele espaço”, analisa. Em relação ao árbitro, o brasileiro não quer polemizar. “O juiz parou e eu vou falar o que? Vou falar para ele deixar continuar? Talvez ele até tivesse condições, mas não tem como saber”, disse, finalizando a polêmica: “ele tem que vir tentar de novo então”.
