Invicto em sete lutas, o brasileiro Ricardo Funch é mais uma esperança de virada na categoria até 77kg. Com estreia marcada para este sábado, contra Johny Hendricks, o brasileiro radicado nos Estados Unidos espera uma luta dura. "Nas lutas que eu assisti dele, ele foi bem dominante e é muito bom, mas quem não é? O UFC é o lugar onde os melhores estão, então vou dar meu máximo", afirmou.
Com quatro vitórias por nocaute, Ricardo garante que está bem preparado em todos os estilos. "Eu acho que um lutador, independente do estilo, precisa ser rápido e letal nas lutas. Eu me sinto como um bom grappler, e treino mais Jiu-Jitsu do que qualquer outra coisa, mas eu me sinto bem trocando também", explica. Quando começou a lutar MMA, o atleta revela que entrou no ringue escondido da família, temendo a rejeição.
“Somente contei a eles depois da minha segunda ou terceira luta, e embora minha mãe ainda não goste da idéia, meu pai me ajuda muito. No começo eu tinha que me dividir entre o trabalho e os treinos, e eu não tinha carro, meu transporte era uma bicicleta. Então, depois que terminava meus serviços de paisagismo e nas construções, eu pedalava nove quilômetros para ir para a academia e nove para voltar", conta.
Diante de um oponente também invicto, o brasileiro garante que não sentirá a pressão... Só a de estrear no UFC. "Eu já lutei contra outros invictos e digo que a pressão não é nem o meu e nem o recorde dele, é lutar no UFC. Ele já respirou ares que eu ainda não, mas eu sei que vou me sair bem psicologicamente", finalizou o lutador, em entrevista ao site oficial do UFC. No mesmo card, os brasileiros Wilson Gouveia, Lúcio Linhares e Rousimar “Toquinho” estarão em ação.
