Anderson Silva and Demian Maia face each other at UFC 112, in Abu Dhabi, and one fighter knows both very well. André Galvão, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, trained with Maia for a long time at Brasa team, but trains with Silva since his MMA debut, in 2008.
“That’s weird. I’m here since my MMA debut and Anderson always helped me in all my fights, but this time he’ll fight against Demian, who’s my friend,” Galvão said to TATAME.com. “It’s a fight, professional. After that it’s over, everybody talks with everybody. It’s like a soccer match. Or course it’s not easy, but Anderson helps me a lot, so I have to help him too, doesn’t matter who’s the opponent”.
Following the champion’s training, Andre believes that Demian will be ready for the fight of his life. “Anderson is training a lot, he’s in a great phase,” tells. “Everybody is focusing the training in all areas, that’s not the striker versus the grappler anymore. If Demian is there is because he deserves this chance, but the experience counts a lot in this kind of fight, and Anderson has it. I believe in a great fight”.

Anderson Silva e Demian Maia se enfrentarão no UFC 112 em Abu Dhabi, Emirados Árabes, e tem um lutador que conhece os dois lutadores muito bem. André Galvão, que treinou com Demian por muito tempo na equipe Brasa, treina no time de Anderson desde 2008. Em conversa com a TATAME, o faixa-preta comentou o encontro de seus amigos pelo título dos pesos médios do UFC.
“Fica uma coisa estranha. Estou aqui desde a minha estreia no MMA e o Anderson sempre me ajudou em todas as minhas lutas, mas dessa vez ele vai lutar com o Demian, que é meu amigo”, disse Galvão, destacando o lado profissional do esporte. “É uma luta, profissionalismo. Depois que acaba, todo mundo se cumprimenta. É como uma partida de futebol. Lógico que não é fácil, mas o Anderson me ajuda muito, então tenho que ajudar ele também, independente do adversário”.
Acompanhando de perto o treino do campeão, Galvão acredita que Demian deve estar se preparando para a luta de sua vida. “O Anderson está treinando muito, está numa fase muito boa”, conta, prevendo uma luta emocionante, com favoritismo do Silva. “Todo mundo está buscando ficar aprimorado em todos os aspectos, não tem mais essa de striker contra Jiu-Jitsu. Se o Demian está lá é porque ele merece essa chance, mas a experiência conta bastante numa disputa de cinturão, uma coisa que o Anderson tem. Acredito numa grande luta”.
