Fabrício “Morango” Camões debuted in the UFC with a draw against Caol Uno. Scheduled to return against Kurt “Batman” Pellegrino at UFC 111, the black belt under Royler Gracie is excited to win his first fight in the UFC octagon.
“The last time I almost get it, but now I won’t let it happen again,’ Camões said, without thinking about the fact that he’ll fight in Kurt’s home town. “It doesn’t bother me at all. I never fought in my home, I’m here in the US for a long time and will always be the guest. But I’ll be the guest that wants to ruin the party”.
Training hard at San Diego, California, the former EliteXC fighter comments his preparation for the bout. “We’re training hard, setting a great game plan. He’s a tough opponent, but we’re ready, studying his game and I think this will be a great fight for the fans”, predicts.
In interview to TATAME TV, Pellegrino bet on his ground game to this fight (remember here), but the Brazilian says he’s ready for anyone inside the cage. “This is a good ground game, but this is MMA. We have to think in the fight itself. I’m a black belt under Royler Gracie, I believe a lot in my ground skills. I’m training Jiu-Jitsu my whole life and I think it’s hard to be surprised by anyone on the ground”.
And “Morango” tries to control his excitement for the fight. “I was really anxious for the victory at the debut, but that’s a problem. I’m working calmer now to avoid the mistakes,” explains Fabricio. “I’m doing a great job with Alvaro Romano and this is gonna be a great fight, I’m going inside all the time. I trained a lot for this moment and this is my time”.

Fabrício “Morango” estreou no UFC com empate diante de Caol Uno. Convocado para enfrentar o duro Kurt Pellegrino no UFC 111, o faixa-preta de Royler Gracie se diz pronto para lavar a alma dentro do octagon. “A última bateu na trave, mas, se Deus quiser, nessa vamos entrar com bola e tudo”, brinca o lutador, sem se importar com o fato de lutar na casa do adversário.
“Isso não me preocupa. Nunca lutei em casa, estou fora há um tempão e vou sempre ser convidado. Serei o convidado e quero estragar a festa”, garante. Treinando forte em San Diego, Estados Unidos, o casca-grossa mostra animação. “Estamos treinando bastante, fazendo um plano muito forte. Ele é um adversário duro, mas estamos nos preparando. Estudamos o jogo dele e acho que vai ser uma boa luta para os fãs do UFC”, prevê.
Em entrevista à TATAME TV, Pellegrino apostou em seu jogo de chão como diferencial para este combate (relembre aqui), mas o brasileiro se diz preparado para qualquer um. “Ele tem um chão acima da média dentro do Ultimate, mas o esporte é Vale Tudo, a gente tem que pensar na luta como um todo. Sou um faixa-preta do Royler, sou muito confiante no meu chão. Venho praticando Jiu-Jitsu a minha vida inteira, acho difícil alguém me surpreender no chão”, disse.
E Morango tenta controlar a empolgação. “Eu estava super ansioso em busca dessa vitória, mas a ansiedade até atrapalha. Estou trabalhando bem calmo para não cometer nenhum erro agora”, explica Fabrício. “Estou fazendo um trabalho muito bom com o Álvaro Romano e vai ser ótimo, vou cair pra dentro o tempo inteiro”, disse, prometendo uma grande luta. “Vai ser uma luta movimentada, vou buscar a vitória até o fim. Me preparei para esse momento, a minha hora chegou”.
