Without losing for over two years, Andrei Arlovski had his chance to confront Fedor Emelianenko on the extinct Affliction. The Belarus started well, but “created” a flying knee and ended up being knockout by Fedor. Five month later, Arlovski faltered again and Brett Rogers knock him out.
More focused, now Andrei will fight the Brazilian Antônio Pezão on Strikeforce, event that will happen on May 15 on the United States. “This fight is very important for me. It’s been about nine months since my last fight so I just can’t wait to fight again”, said the UFC’s former champion, who will follow his strategy until the end. “I’m definitely going to stick to my game plan. No more putting my hands down like I did against Rogers. I just can’t lose again.”
Owner of a sharp boxing, the athlete know pretty well the dangerous zone of his opponent game, as the ground game. “That’s why I have spent a lot of time here in Chicago with some big heavy guys training a lot on the ground. He’s an all-around fighter. His striking is good. He’s good on the ground. He has long arms. He’s really dangerous. I have to be really prepared for this fight”, commented Arlovski, who only thinks about the Brazilian. “Before I fought Rogers my mind was on (Fedor) Emelianenko. Now, it’s one step at a time. After May 15 then we can talk. Of course, it’s up to Strikeforce. So now I just focus on May 15 against Big Foot. He’s tough and he’s dangerous”, concluded Arlovski.

Arlovski não quer “inventar” contra Pezão

Sem sentir o sabor da derrota por mais de dois anos, Andrei Arlovski teve a chance de enfrentar Fedor Emelianenko no extinto Affliction. O bielorrusso até começou bem, mas “inventou” uma joelhada voadora e acabou nocauteado por Fedor. Cinco meses depois, Arlovski vacilou novamente e foi nocauteado por Brett Rogers.
Com a cabeça no lugar, Andrei enfrentará o brasileiro Antônio Pezão no Strikeforce, evento que acontece no dia 15 de maio nos Estados Unidos. “Essa luta é muito importante para mim. Já se passaram nove meses desde a minha última luta, mal posso esperar para lutar de novo”, afirmou o ex-campeão do UFC durante uma conferência do evento, garantindo que seguirá a estratégia do começo ao fim. “Preciso seguir o plano, nada de baixar a mão como quando enfrentei o Rogers. Não posso perder de novo”.
Dono de um Boxe afiado, o atleta sabe dos perigos que seu oponente oferece no jogo de chão. “Foi por isso que treinei chão por muito tempo em Chicago com alguns caras grandes e pesados... Ele tem braços longos, é muito perigoso. Tenho que estar preparado para essa luta”, comentou Arlovski, que só pensa no brasileiro. “Antes de enfrentar o Rogers, minha cabeça estava no Fedor. Agora, é um passo de cada vez. Só estou focado no Pezão, ele é duro e perigoso”, finalizou o gringo.
