MMASWISSNEWS.COM: Jussier Formiga conquers Muay Thai title

Considered the best MMA fighter on the flyweight division, the unbeaten Jussier Formiga does not only shines on the MMA rings. Shooto Brasil’s champion, the athlete from Kimura Nova União showed he can exchange blows quite well in order to win, on the unanimous judges round card decision, the three-times state champion of Muay Thai Juliano Silva, in a duel that happened yesterday on the first Brazilian edition of Gladiator of the Night.

“Despite my main focus is on MMA, I was really glad with my performance on this fight”, celebrates Formiga, in a chat with TATAME. The tough guy reveals he will dispute the international belt of the event that happens in August, a combat that may occur in Brazil. Upset with the world Shooto, which did not give him a chance to dispute the title even after he beat the champion of his division, Shinichi BJ Kojima, the flyweight athlete celebrates his good phase.

“This year had begun as one of the worst years in my life, because my father died in a motorcycle accident, in February, and to make things even worst, Dedé closed up five fights for me in the U.S., but I couldn’t go because I they denied my visa back on Recife”, tells, celebrating it twice. “But, thanks God, last week I won the state’s Jiu-Jitsu tournament on the light weight division, which is three categories above mine, and yesterday I conquest this Muay Thai belt… And the event paid me a good amount”.

The champion thanks the support of his team and friends, who has been besides him during the bad moments. “I would like to thank Dedé (Pederneiras), because when my father died, he sent a financial supply and it was very important since I had the funeral’s expenses. I would also like to thank my other family, that even if we don’t have blood ties, they are in my heart, Kimura Nova União, in the name of my professor Jair Lourenço, because they all helped me financially, besides all of the physiological support through words, gestures, attitudes and a lot of faith”, concluded.

Considerado o número um do MMA no peso mosca, o invicto Jussier Formiga não brilha apenas nos ringues de Vale Tudo. Campeão do Shooto Brasil, o atleta da Kimura Nova União mostrou trocação afiada para vencer, na decisão unânime dos juízes, o tricampeão estadual de Muay Thai Juliano Silva, em duelo que aconteceu ontem na primeira edição brasileira do Gladiator of the Night.

“Embora o meu foco principal seja o MMA, estou muito feliz com o meu desempenho nessa luta”, comemora Formiga, em conversa com a TATAME. E o casca-grossa revela que disputará o cinturão internacional do evento em agosto, combate que pode acontecer no Brasil. Chateado com o Shooto mundial, que não lhe deu a chance de disputar o título mesmo depois de derrotar o campeão da categoria, Shinichi BJ Kojima, o peso mosca comemora a volta à boa fase.

“Esse ano começou como um dos piores anos da minha vida, pois perdi o meu pai em um acidente de moto, em fevereiro, e para completar o Dedé fechou cinco lutas para mim nos Estados Unidos, mas não tive como ir por que negaram meu visto lá em Recife”, conta, festejando em dose dupla. “Mas, graças a Deus, semana passada venci o estadual de Jiu-Jitsu lutando na leve, que são três categorias acima da minha, e ontem conquistei mais esse cinturão em minha carreira... E o evento me pagou muito bem”.

E o campeão agradece o apoio da equipe e amigos, que estiveram ao seu lado durante os momentos ruins. “Gostaria de agradecer a o Dedé (Pederneiras), pois quando perdi meu pai ele me mandou um apoio financeiro que foi muito importante para os custos com o funeral. Também queria agradecer a minha outra família, que não é de sangue, mas é de coração, a Kimura Nova União, em nome do meu professor Jair Lourenço, pois todos se juntaram e também me ajudaram financeiramente, além de me darem um grande conforto psicológico com palavras, gestos e atitudes de muita fé”, finalizou.
