The top among the heavyweights, Fedor Emelianenko will get into action for the 34th time next Saturday, and the fan’s expectations for his fight against the Brazilian Fabrício Werdum are high. Before going to the Unites States, Fedor answered some of TATAME’s questions, commenting about his expectations for the seventh fight he will do against a Brazilian fighter.
“Werdum is one of the most fluent fighters on the ground in the world. Right now, I am putting my biggest effort into the conditioning; I run 15 km a day, since a fight with Fabrício may go to the later rounds”, analyzes the Russian, without worrying about the tricks that Fabrício, world champion of Jiu-Jitsu on ADCC, can made him get into. “Only the fight will tell us”, says Pride’s former champion on the heavyweight division.
After confronting experienced names on the ground game, Emelianenko reveals he did not made a specific training to get away from the Jiu-Jitsu’s positions that the Brazilian might bring him to, a fighter who has conquest most of his wins by submission. “I always train the same, will see during the fight. I will be adjusting and making changes thought our bout. I am ready to fight standing or on the ground. My morning training is held on the wrestling mats, and evening training in the boxing ring”, explains.
With a win over Werdum, the athlete might confront Alistar Overeem, owner of Strikeforce’s belt. But Fedor Emelianenko preferred not to make any comment about the probable duel with the Netherlander. “I am not looking past Werdum right now, I don't like making any predictions”, concluded the Russian. Número um dos pesos pesados, Fedor Emelianenko entrará em ação pela 34ª vez no próximo sábado, e a expectativa para sua luta contra o brasileiro Fabrício Werdum é grande por parte dos fãs. Antes de embarcar para os Estados Unidos, Fedor respondeu algumas perguntas da TATAME, comentando sua expectativa para sua sétima luta contra lutadores brasileiros.
“Werdum é um dos lutadores mais ‘fluentes’ no chão do mundo. No momento, estou colocando todo meu esforço na parte de condicionamento: eu corro 15km por dia, uma vez que a luta contra Werdum pode ir para os últimos rounds”, analisa o russo, sem pensar nas armadilhas que Fabrício, campeão mundial no Jiu-Jitsu no ADCC, revelou esta preparando para ele. “Somente a luta vai nos dizer”, despista o ex-campeão peso pesado do Pride.
Depois de enfrentar nomes experientes no chão, Emelianenko revela que não treinou nada especial para escapar do Jiu-Jitsu do gaúcho, que conquistou metade de suas vitórias por finalização. “Eu sempre treino o mesmo, vamos ver durante a luta. Eu vou ajustando e fazendo mudanças durante nossa luta. Estou pronto para lutar em pé ou no chão. De manhã o meu treino é nos tatames do Wrestling, à tarde é nos ringues de Boxe”, explica.
Com uma vitória sobre Werdum, o atleta russo deve enfrentar Alistair Overeem, dono do cinturão do Strikeforce. Porém, Fedor Emelianenko preferiu não comentar o provável duelo contra o holandês. “Não estou olhando além de Werdum no momento, então não quero fazer nenhuma previsão”, finalizou o russo.
