Shooto world champion, Willamy Chiquerim achieved the biggest victory of his career so far. The tough guy of the New Union is the newest Brazilian UFC contract in a category that already are present Thiago Tavares and the Bronx's Charles. And the debut of Chiquerim will be on August 1 at UFC 2 on Versus, just against another brazuca: Thiago Tavares.

Chiquerim estreia contra compatriota no UFC

Campeão mundial do Shooto, Willamy Chiquerim conseguiu a maior vitória de sua carreira até agora. O casca-grossa da Nova União é o mais novo brasileiro contratado do UFC, em uma categoria que já marcam presença Thiago Tavares e Charles do Bronx’s. E a estréia de Chiquerim será no dia primeiro de agosto no UFC on Versus 2, justamente contra outro brazuca: Thiago Tavares.

Técnico de Willamy, Dedé Pederneiras comentou a contratação do pupilo e o fato de estreia logo contra um compatriota. “As expectativas são as melhores possíveis... Ele está chegando ao auge, onde todos querem estar, mas é sempre chato lutar com brasileiro, mas o mercado impõe isso. Vai ser uma luta dura para os dois, e espero que o meu ganhe”, disse Dedé, que dá todo crédito ao Shooto, evento que lançou Chiquerim.

“O Shooto é o evento que mais colocou gente para lutar lá fora, é o 24º cara que realmente sai do Shooto e vai para outro evento. O Chiquerim perdeu a primeira luta dele no Shooto, mas deu continuidade, foi campeão sul-americano e mundial do Shooto e agora está no Ultimate... Além de dar a oportunidade, o cara consegue construir a carreira mesmo perdendo no evento”, comemora Pederneiras.
