Who said Brock LEsnar only has weight and Wrestling? On a fight against the unbeaten Shane Carwin, the main event of UFC 116, which happened tonight in Las Vegas, the American giant showed a lot of strain… and Jiu-Jitsu.

On a very busy first round, Carwin simply annihilated Brock, fitting hard coups while standing and punishing him a lot on the ground and pound. There were five minutes of ride for Carwin, but he got tired and could finish the fight. “He has got heavy hands, but I knew he’d get tired”, said Brock, seconds after he got a takedown, passed the guard and fit a tight arm-triangle which defined the fight, showing that his Jiu-Jitsu trainings with Rodrigo Comprido has been making some good improvements on his game. Brock Lesnar, with an impressive submission, maintained his UFC heavyweight belt, and his next opponent will be the unbeaten Cain Velasquez.

CHRIS LEBEN SUBMITS JAPANESE IDOL

Fourteen days after knocking out Aaron Simpson on TUF 11 Finale, the American Chris Leben came back to UFC ring, replacing the Brazilian Wanderlei Silva, and did a great job against the Japanese Yoshihiri Akiyama. With a lot of excitement on the free trade of punches, reminding the classic duel between Melvin Manhoef and Evangelista Cyborg, the outcome came on the ground. Right before the belt rang on the last round, Leben surprised and fit a triangle, submitting the Japanese and challenging Wanderlei Silva.

A TRIANGLE AND NA ARM-LOOCK GAVE CHRIS LYTLE THE WIN

The recordist of extra bonus from UFC, Chris Lytle entered on the octagon against Matt Brown, who has been submitted on the past by him, and he did it again. After trading a lot of punches while standing, Matt was in advantage on the ground and almost ended the bout with a triangle in hands, but Chris did a good defense, reverted and got the mounted, fitting an inverted triangle and an arm-lock, getting a great win. At the end of the fight, Chris asked for one more extra prize for his collection.

BONNAR GETS HIS REVENGE BY TKO

Idol from the first edition of UFC’s reality show, Stephan Bonnar promised a great revenge against the Polish Krzysztof Soszynski, and the forecast came out true right on the beginning of the fight, with a lot of free punches in Las Vegas. Bonnar suffered a punishment on the first round and almost lost, but he did a great comeback on the second round. Having his faces covered in blood, Bonnar got a knockdown with a knee on the clinch and finished his business with the Polish on the ground, punishing Soszynski on the ground and pound until the referee’s intermission.

THEY LET IT FOR THE JUDGES TO DECIDE ON THE PRELIMINARY CARD

Among the six fights on the preliminary card, the judges needed to do a lot of working to define the winners, and they did not always agree with each other. On the duel between Kendall Grove and Goran Reljic, two judges had given the win to Grove, who won by most of the majority voting. The same come out happened on the bout between Daniel Roberts and Forrest Petz, being Roberts the winner.

One of the highlights of the evening, Seth Petruzelli, who knocked out Kimbo Slice on the extinct EliteXC, made a bad comeback on Ultimate and ended up submitted by Ricardo Romero. On the duel between the heavyweights, Brendan Schaub was quick and, after defending a good takedown, brought Chris Tuchscherer to the ground on a beautiful punch and won by TKO at 67 seconds of fight.

Quem disse que Brock Lesnar só tem peso e Wrestling? Na luta contra Shane Carwin, principal atração do UFC 116, que aconteceu na noite de hoje em Las Vegas, o gigante mostrou que tem muita raça... e Jiu-Jitsu.

Num primeiro round bastante movimentado, Carwin simplesmente aniquilou Brock, acertando duros golpes em pé e castigando muito no ground and pound. Foram cinco minutos de passeio por parte de Carwin, mas ele acabou cansando e não conseguiu liquidar a fatura. "Ele tem mãos pesadas, mas sabia que ele se cansaria", disse Brock, instantes depois de conseguir a queda, passar a guarda e encaixar o justo kata-gatame que definiu a luta, mostrando que os treinos de Jiu-Jitsu com Rodrigo Comprido têm dado resultado. Brock Lesnar, que ainda levou o prêmio de melhor finalização da noite, segue como o campeão peso pesado do UFC, e seu próximo oponente será o invicto Cain Velasquez.

CHRIS LEBEN FINALIZA ÍDOLO JAPONÊS

TRIÂNGULO E ARM-LOCK DÃO A VITÓRIA A CHRIS LYTLE

O recordista de bônus extras no UFC, Chris Lytle entrou no octagon contra Matt Brown, que já havia sido finalizado por ele no passado, e repetiu a dose. Após uma trocação franca em pé, Matt levou vantagem no chão e quase finalizou o combate com um triângulo de mão, mas Chris se defendeu bem, reverteu e conseguiu a montada, encaixando um triângulo invertido e um arm-lock, conseguindo uma bela vitória. Ao final da luta, Chris requisitou mais um prêmio extra para sua coleção. E seria merecido, caso Lesnar não tivesse roubado a cena na luta principal.

BONNAR CONSEGUE A REVANCHE POR TKO

Ídolo da primeira edição do reailty show do UFC, Stephan Bonnar prometia uma grande luta na revanche contra o polonês Krzysztof Soszynski, e as previsões se confirmaram logo no começo da luta, com a trocação rolando solta em Las Vegas. Bonnar sofreu um castigo no primeiro round e quase perdeu, mas deu a volta por cima no segundo round. Com o rosto sangrando bastante, Bonnar conseguiu um knockdown com uma joelhada no clinch e encerrou o trabalho no chão, castigando Soszynski no ground and pound até a interupção do árbitro.

JUÍZES TRABALHAM NO CARD PRELIMINAR

Entre as seis lutas do card preliminar, os juízes precisaram trabalhar bastante para definir os vencedores, e houve discordância. No duelo entre Kendall Grove e Goran Reljic, dois jurados apontaram a vitória de Grove, que superou na decisão dividida. O mesmo desfecho aconteceu na luta entre Daniel Roberts e Forrest Petz, com vitória para o primeiro.

Entre os destaques, Seth Petruzelli, que nocauteou Kimbo Slice no extinto EliteXC, voltou com derrota ao Ultimate ao ser finalizado por Ricardo Romero. No duelo dos pesos pesados, Brendan Schaub foi rápido no gatilho e, após defender bem uma queda, levou Chris Tuchscherer à lona com um belo cruzado e vencendo por TKO em 67 segundos.
