One year after becoming the number one weight and absolute on World Pro in Abu Dhabi, the black-belt Tarsis Hemphreys came back to the top of the podium on the most glamorous competition of the gentle-art, CBJJ’s World. “That was the title I lacked to secure my name on Jiu-Jitsu. It was a personal achievement, I’ve always wanted this title”, celebrates the athlete. But the golden medal is not the only new on Tarsis’ life.

With a new home, the world champion is the new responsible for the trainings of two Alliance’s gyms in Florida. “I came here because I really wanted to, but I’m with a guy who’s helping me a lot. I started this week on the two gyms, one in Kendal and the other is in Coral Gables, but the ideia is to open others”, tells, explaining the decision of moving to the United States. “I was feeling like I needed to breathe different airs from Sao Paulo’s, it’s too much stressful there. The life quality here is great to work with Jiu-Jitsu and it’s pretty cool. Here we’ve got the beach and all the structure of a big city, so it’s not that different from Sao Paulo”.

The change of airs, city and country could not have come on a better time, explains Humphreys. “Being the world champion is something important for who wants to have a successful gym. The title is nothing more than a prove that you’re the best in what you do, so I believe it changes everything”, celebrates the black-belt, who does not have plans to wear the kimono again on the competitions. “I’m off now, dedicating to my classes, to my new students, but soon I’ll start to train hard again for the competitions”, concludes the “exported” black-belt, who went for the United States. Tarsis de casa nova nos Estados Unidos

Um ano depois de se tornar o primeiro campeão peso e absoluto do Mundial Profissional de Abu Dhabi, o faixa-preta Tarsis Humphreys voltou ao topo do pódio na competição mais glamorosa da arte suave, o Mundial da CBJJ. “Esse era o título que faltava para firmar meu nome no Jiu-Jitsu. Era uma realização pessoal, sempre quis esse título”, comemora o atleta. Porém, a medalha de ouro no peito não é a única novidade na vida de Tarsis.

De casa nova, o campeão mundial é mais novo responsável pelos treinos em duas filiais da Alliance em Miami, Flórida. “Vim na raça mesmo, mas estou com um cara muito legal que está me ajudando muito. Comecei nessa semana em duas academias, uma em Kendal e outra em Coral Gables, mas a ideia é abrir outras”, conta, explicando a decisão de se mudar para a Terra do Tio Sam. “Estava a fim de mudar um pouco de ares de São Paulo, é muito estresse lá. A qualidade de vida aqui é muito boa e trabalhar com o Jiu-Jitsu aqui é muito legal. Aqui tem praia e toda a estrutura de cidade grande, então foge muito do que era São Paulo”.

A mudança de ares, cidade e país não poderia vir em hora melhor, explica Humphreys. “Ser campeão mundial é algo importante para quem quer ter uma academia bem sucedida. O título nada mais é que a prova que você é o melhor no que faz, então acho que isso muda tudo”, comemora o faixa-preta, que ainda não tem planos para vestir o quimono novamente nas competições. “Estou de folga agora, me dedicando às aulas para meus novos alunos, mas já, já volto a treinar forte para voltar às competições”, finaliza o novo faixa-preta “exportado” para os Estados Unidos.
