After the debut with a performance below of the expectations, being knocked out by Mike Kyle, Rafael “Feijão” Cavalcante came back better on the last Friday (20) and, against Aaron Rosa, needed two rounds to win by TKO. “Everything went fine, but I still have more to show”, Feijão guarantees, talking about the strategy.
“I could do what we have decided, to work on close distance, as he was taller than me, and make him to get tired on the first round. Feijão: “Tenho muito mais para mostrar”

Rafael “Feijão” mostrou a que veio no Strikeforce. Depois da estreia abaixo do esperado, sendo nocauteado por Mike Kyle, o casca-grossa voltou melhor na última sexta-feira (20) e, diante de Aaron Rosa, precisou de dois rounds para conseguir o nocaute. “Deu tudo certo, mas ainda tenho muito mais para mostrar”, garante Feijão, comentando a estratégia.
“Consegui fazer o que tínhamos decidido, trabalhar na curta distância, já que ele era bem mais alto que eu, e fazê-lo cansar no primeiro round. Ele ficou mais lento e trabalhamos no contragolpe”, explica Rafael, animado com os elogios dos promotores do evento. “Eles gostaram pra caramba, falaram que ficaram preocupados com a minha primeira luta, mas expliquei o negócio do peso, que tinha batido mal. Agora deu tudo certo, bati o peso até rindo”.
Com oito vitórias em dez lutas, o atleta revelou que deve voltar ao evento no começo de 2010. “Perguntavam se eu lutaria em fevereiro, e eu estou pronto”, garante, sem imaginar quem poderia ser seu oponente. “Não tenho a mínima ideia, tem tanta gente aí... O Dan Henderson chegou ao evento, tem o King Mo (Lawal)... Vieram muitos atletas novos”, disse, de olho no cinturão da categoria, que está nas mãos do armênio Gegard Mousasi. “Essa é a minha expectativa, vou treinar para isso”.
O NOCAUTE DE MINOTOURO
No dia seguinte à vitória no Strikeforce, Feijão viu seu companheiro de treino, Rogério “Minotouro”, vencer na sua estreia no UFC, nocauteando o paulista Luis “Banha”. “Eu não esperava o contrário disso. O conheço há mais de seis anos e treinamos juntos direto. Vi o que ele ia fazer e o seu jogo é muito difícil, o Boxe dele está num nível muito alto”, elogia.
E o atleta prevê um futuro de sucesso para o baiano no evento. “Acho que ele vai se sair muito bem... Ele é muito completo, um cara bom de Wrestling com a mão desse jeito é fogo”, analisa Feijão, destacando a experiência do lutador como um dos diferenciais na categoria. “Ele é muito rápido e inteligente lutando, então ele vai se dar muito bem. Ele só vai na boa e isso conta bastante”, finalizou.
