Paulo Thiago predicts “a good year” at UFC

With ten fights on his career, Paulo Thiago won the chance to debut on UFC at the beginning of the year, and had two victories on three fights, beating Jacob Volkmann on the last weekend. And Paulo previews a 2010 even better.

“I’m waiting for UFC to say what’s gonna happen, they didn’t tell me nothing yet. I think it’s gonna be a good year, I’ll train hard to face whoever UFC tells me to”, Thiago said, who didn’t won easily.

“I thought it was a hard fight, a though guy on the ground, with a good Wrestling, but was everything okay. I trained a lot and it was kind of how he have planed”, Paulo celebrates, who dominated the fight standing, but passed for bad moments on the ground.

“I knew that he was going to try to go to the ground, but I tried the knock out the whole time. He has a heavy hand, I passed for some good and some bad moments on the ground… I tried to work the ground and pond, but the time was up”, remembers.

With new previews to return to the octagon, Paulo knows that he’s in one of the toughest categories of the event, but he guarantees that he’s ready to the opponent that his bosses chose. Even if it is Josh Koscheck, who was considered one of the biggest names of the weight, but was knocked out by Paulo on his debut. “I don’t believe that this rematch can happen so soon, but, if they put it, I’m ready”, finished.

Paulo Thiago prevê “um ano bom” no UFC

Com 10 lutas na carreira, Paulo Thiago ganhou a chance de estrear no UFC no começo do ano, e já faturou duas vitórias em três lutas, batendo Jacob Volkmann no último final de semana. E Paulo prevê um 2010 ainda melhor. “Estou esperando o UFC falar o que vai acontecer, não me falaram nada ainda. Acho que vai ser um ano bom, vou treinar forte para enfrentar quem o UFC mandar”, conta o brasileiro, que não teve moleza para vencer o combate.

“Achei uma luta difícil, um camarada duro no chão, que tinha um bom Wrestling, mas deu tudo certo. Treinei bastante e foi mais ou menos como tínhamos planejado”, comemora Thiago, que dominou a luta em pé, mas passou por alguns sufocos no chão. “Sabia que ele ia tentar ir para o chão, mas tentei surpreender em pé, procurei o nocaute o tempo todo. Ele tem uma mão pesada, passei por alguns momentos bons e ruins no chão... Tentei cair sempre por cima para trabalhar no ground and pound, mas o tempo chegou ao fim”, relembra.

Sem previsão de retorno ao octagon, Paulo sabe que está numa das categorias mais duras do evento, mas garante estar pronto para o oponente que os patrões definirem. Mesmo que este seja o americano Josh Koscheck, que era considerado um dos maiores nomes do peso, mas foi nocauteado por Paulo em sua estreia. “Não acredito que essa revanche possa acontecer agora tão rápido, mas, se colocarem, estou pronto”, finalizou.
