With 14 victories in 15 fights, Raphael Assunção is walking to the tops of the featherweight division at WEC. Set to fight Urijah Faber at January 10, the Brazilian talked to TATAME.com about the fight against the former champion, once considered one of the best pound for pound fighters of the world. Os fãs pediram e a organização do WEC atendeu prontamente. Logo após o WEC 43, quando Rafael Assunção conquistou sua 14ª vitória em 15 lutas, a imprensa americana logo cogitou um confronto entre o brasileiro e o ex-campeão da categoria, Urijah Faber, que já foi considerado um dos melhores lutadores peso por peso do MMA.
No dia 10 de janeiro de 2010, na edição 46 do show americano, o duelo finalmente acontecerá, e pode colocar mais um brasileiro perto do cinturão dos penas, que definirá o campeão neste domingo, com a luta entre Mike Brown e José Aldo. Para começar o ano com o pé direito, como anunciou o cartola Reed Harris, o WEC unificará os cinturões com o combate entre Jamie Varner, campeão dos leves, e Benson Henderson, campeão interino da categoria.
