Every fighter’s dream is to be in the biggest MMA event o the world, and it isn’t different with Alexandre Ribeiro. Two times absolute BJJ world champion, the black belt surprised with two TKO victories in the MMA, and wants to stay on Sengoku to feel more comfortable on the rings.
“I have a contract with Sengoku and I want to stay there to have more experience. As much experience, better. If they do a GP, I’ll have an opportunity to fight for a belt”, explains the fighter. “If it’s the natural order of things [go to the UFC], but I want to obey my contract on Sengoku, maybe fight a GP, and then to fight in America
Leading Diego Sanchez’s trains at Universidade do Jiu-Jitsu beside Saulo Ribeiro, the black belt reveal that the relationship with UFC is good. “With Diego’s training we’re always on the event and we had this conversation, it’s normal. Any fighter has the aim to fight UFC”, guarantees.
RECOVERING AND RETURN
On the ADCC openweight final, Ribeiro suffered an injury and had to keep away from trainings for a long time. Recovering, the black belt expects to be back to rings on beginning of 2010.
“I made physiotherapy, strengthening and stretching a month and a half ago. I gave myself a month to rest and I’m training… I’m not confident about the biceps yet, but I want to be back to trains in January”, tells.
Out of the Jiu-Jitsu Worlds of this year because of an injury, Xande guarantees that he’s into everything that’s happening on competitions. “Besides I’m away, I’m always training, following the news, who’s winning and losing. I’m with eyes wide open to the new trends to be good on the Worlds”, Xande finished.

Xande busca experiência de olho no UFC

O sonho de todo lutador é entrar no maior evento de MMA do mundo, e com Xande Ribeiro não é diferente. Bicampeão mundial absoluto de Jiu-Jitsu, o faixa-preta surpreendeu ao vencer suas duas lutas de MMA por nocaute, e quer permanecer no Sengoku para se sentir mais À vontade no MMA.
“Tenho contrato com o Sengoku e quero continuar lá para pegar mais experiência. Quanto mais experiência, melhor, e com certeza, quando tiver um GP, vou ter uma oportunidade para lutar por um cinturão”, explica o lutador, que não descarta uma ida para o UFC no futuro. “Se for, é a ordem natural das coisas, mas quero cumprir meu contrato no Sengoku, de repente lutar um GP, e depois lutar na América, onde é a minha base, onde tenho meus alunos”.
Comandando os treinos de Diego Sanchez na Universidade do Jiu-Jitsu ao lado de Saulo Ribeiro, o faixa-preta revela que o relacionamento com o UFC é bom. “Com o treinamento do Diego, estamos sempre no evento e já tivemos essa conversa, é normal. Qualquer lutador tem o objetivo de lutar o UFC, mas é um objetivo de cada vez”, garante, mantendo a calma quanto ao futuro.
RECUPERAÇÃO E VOLTA
Na final do absoluto do ADCC, Xande acabou sofrendo uma lesão muscular e teve que ficar um bom tempo afastado dos treinos. Em recuperação, o faixa-preta espera voltar aos ringues no começo de 2010.
“Fiz fisioterapia, fortalecimento e alongamento há um mês e meio. Dei um mês de descanso e já estou treinando... Não estou com confiança no bíceps ainda, mas a minha previsão é voltar aos treinos em janeiro”, conta.
De fora do Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu deste ano devido a uma lesão, Xande garante que está ligado em tudo o que acontece nas competições. “Apesar de estar longe, estou sempre treinando, acompanhando as novidades, quem está ganhando e perdendo. Estou de olho aberto às novas tendências pra chegar bem forte no Mundial”, finalizou Xande.
