The last months had a lot of changes to Wagnney Fabiano. Training to his fights on the base in Canada
On January 10, Wagnney make his first fight at WEC bantamweight division, and the opponent will be Frank Gomez, who has eight victories in nine MMA fights. “Everything is fine, the expectation is the best possible. I think that the hardest to me will be the weight, but the rest is fine“, the black belt said, who will study more the game of the opponent. “I don’t know him very well, but, to be there, he must have his merits. It’s gonna be a tough fight, for sure“.
Learning with the defeat, ending an win streak that lasted three years, the Brazilian wants to be 100%. “The secret is to come well, without injuries and the right weight, because the rest I know that I’ll do well on the fight. The learning is never to fight when you’re hurt. The money don’t matter, never fight when you’re hurt. That’s something I’ve learned, and it was hard (laugh)“, jokes.
Before the fight between José Aldo and Mike Brown, the black belt previewed that Aldo would pass thru the American, and he was right. “I don’t have to say more, I’ve said so many times (laugh). It wasn’t surprised at all, I train with him and I know his potential. I know that he will keep the belt for a while, but he have to keep his mind up, because now he’s on top, but tomorrow you can go down, as me and (Vitor) Shaolin were, but we knew how to invest our money on the right place and now we have the results of that moment“, advises.

Wagnney: derrota e lições para o recomeço

Os últimos meses foram de muitas mudanças para Wagnney Fabiano. De base montada no Canadá, onde treina para suas lutas, o ex-campeão da IFL sofreu sua primeira derrota no WEC, sendo finalizado pelo estreante Mackens Semerzier. Para completar, a conquista do cinturão de seu amigo, José Aldo, o fez decidir descer de peso, uma vez que não aceitaria uma luta contra seu parceiro de equipe.
No dia 10 de janeiro, Wagnney fará sua primeira luta entre os plumas no WEC, e o oponente será Frank Gomez, que tem oito vitórias em nove lutas de MMA. “Está tudo certo, a expectativa é a melhor possível. Acho que a minha maior dificuldade será bater o peso, mas o resto estará tudo em cima”, conta o faixa-preta, que estudará mais o jogo do oponente. “Eu não o conheço muito bem, mas, para estar ali, ele deve ter os seus méritos. Vai ser uma luta dura, com certeza”.
Como aprendizado da derrota, colocando fim a uma invencibilidade que já durava três anos, o brasileiro quer se apresentar a 100%. “O segredo é chegar bem, sem nenhuma lesão e bater o peso tranquilo, porque o resto eu sei que farei bem na hora da luta. O aprendizado é nunca lute contundido. Não importa a parte financeira, nunca lute machucado. Isso é uma coisa que eu aprendi, e foi duro (risos)”, brinca.
Antes da luta entre José Aldo e Mike Brown, o faixa-preta já previu que Aldo atropelaria o americano, e estava certo. “Não preciso nem falar mais, já falei tantas vezes (risos). Não foi nenhuma surpresa, eu treino com ele e sei do seu potencial. Sei que ele vai ficar com o cinturão durante um bom tempo, mas tem que manter a cabeça no lugar, porque hoje ele está lá em cima, mas amanhã pode estar lá embaixo, assim como eu e o (Vitor) Shaolin estivemos, mas soubemos investir nosso dinheiro no lugar certinho e hoje temos bons frutos daquele momento que passou”, aconselha.
