The tragedy that has afflicted the city of Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, did not cracked the performance of its representative on the first day of the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu, which happened today (15th) in Abu Dhabi. After submitting his first three opponents, Gilbert Durinho reissued the duel with Celsinho Venicius in the semifinal, winning by 6x2.
"I came well and managed to submit the first three fights, the first in the back, the second with a foot lock and the third to strike back. I fought with Celsinho again, very hard, but managed to make a good move and go to his back again," tells the Atos athlete, recalling the movement that secured a place in the final. "I go for my fights willing to fall, go straight the back and submit. I could not submit this fight, but assured my place in the finale," he said, ready to confront Claudio Caloquinha. “I’ll get there rested, make na effort tomorrow on the absolute and at the finale on Saturday.”
Despite my two recent confronts with Celsinho, the black-belted from Niterói denied the rivalry. “There’s a lot to come. He’s a really tough opponent, but on the mat is a real war, there I go straight for the submission. The two times we fought, I went for his back, but unfortunately I couldn’t do it because of my mistakes, because when you get the opponent’s back, you have to submit. “Eu vim bem e consegui finalizar as três primeiras lutas, a primeira nas costas, a segunda numa chave de pé e a terceira com ataque nas costas. Com o Celsinho lutamos de novo, maior pauleira, mas consegui fazer um movimento bom e ir para as costas novamente”, conta o atleta da Atos, relembrando o movimento que lhe garantiu a vaga na final. “Eu já procuro em minhas lutas quedar e ir logo para as costas para finalizar. Nessa luta não consegui finalizar, mas garanti minha vaga na final”, disse, pronto para encarar Cláudio Caloquinha. “Vou entrar descansado, fazer uma focinha amanhã no absoluto e ir para a final no sábado”.
Apesar dos dois recentes confrontos com Celsinho, o faixa-preta de Niterói negou a rivalidade com o casca-grossa. “Muitas águas vão rolar. Ele é um adversário muito duro, mas dentro do tatame é guerra, ali eu vou com tudo para finalizar. As duas vezes que lutei com ele, fui para as costas, mas infelizmente não consegui finalizar por erro meu, porque quando chega nas costas tenho que finalizar.
