Tarsis Humphreyes (Alliance) was the great champion on the medium heavy weight division on Brazilian Nationals, an event that shook Rio de Janeiro off on the 15th and 16th of May. Last year, the black belt hit the crossbar when he lost to Raphael Abi Rihan, who got the golden medal, but cheered this year with the win over Nivaldo Lima (Checkmat BJJ) on the finale.

“Last Brazil Championship I was overweight, but Abi Rihan had a lot of merits, he was better than me, but I’m more prepared this year to be the champion. I lost on the absolute semifinal to Lyoto, I could not with both, but the trainings are going according to what we have planned for this year”, said Tarsis, who promised a lot more willingness for the Worlds.

“I’ll train hard for the World, a lot of Jiu-Jitsu, my fitness… I’ll keep the trainings and all the work I’ve been doing and on the 31th I’ll go to the United Stated. You will see an aggressive Jiu-Jitsu, I’ll go for the submission because I really want to become the champion, it’s been a long time I’m trying to win this title and with God’s help, I’ll get it this year”, said the champion.

Tarsis promete agressividade no Mundial

Tarsis Humphreys (Alliance) foi o grande campeão da categoria meio-pesado no Campeonato Brasileiro, que sacudiu o Rio de Janeiro nos dias 15 e 16 de maio. No ano passado, o faixa-preta bateu na trave ao ser derrotado por Raphael Abi Rihan, que ficou com o ouro, mas vibrou neste ano com a vitória sobre Nivaldo Lima (Checkmat BJJ) na final.

“No Brasileiro do ano passado eu estava muito acima do peso, sem tirar os méritos do Abi Rihan, que foi melhor, mas esse ano eu me preparei mais e consegui ser campeão. Perdi na semifinal do absoluto para o Lovato, não consegui fazer a dobradinha, mas o treinamento está de acordo com o que a gente planejou para o ano”, disse Tarsis, que prometeu muita vontade no Mundial.

“Agora vou treinar forte para o Mundial, muito Jiu-Jitsu, a parte de musculação... Vou manter o treino e todo o trabalho que eu venho fazendo e dia 31 é o dia que eu embarco para os Estados Unidos. Podem esperar um Jiu-Jitsu pra frente sempre buscando a finalização, a vontade de ser campeão é imensa, pois faz muito tempo que eu estou buscando esse título e se Deus quiser esse ano sai”, disse o campeão brasileiro.
