The only non-Brazilian fighter to win a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world title, after BJ Penn’s achievement, Rafael Lovato wants to make history one more time. And he’s not alone on that. Jonathas Torres, who just won the IBJJF’s Brazilian Nationals, wants to surprise at the lightweight division. In exclusive interviews to TATAME TV, Lovato and JT spoke about the expectation for the BJJ World’s 2010.

Em toda a história do Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu, apenas dois gringos conseguiram abocanhar títulos no masculino faixa-preta. Na edição 2010 do torneio, uma dupla de cascas-grossas promete chegar com força total pelo ouro. “Minha expectativa é o ouro, como sempre”, disse Jonatas Torres, que está de olho numa revanche contra Gilbert Durinho. “Lutei com ele na final do Brasileiro e vai ser uma boa revanche. E, claro, Michael Langhi... Espero me encontrar com ele na final, será uma boa luta”, afirmou o americano, que terá que passar por três campeões mundiais para chegar ao título. “Estou pronto para todos eles”, garante.
Outro casca-grossa que promete chamar a atenção é Rafael Lovato, único gringo a vencer um Mundial depois de BJ Penn. Campeão em 2007, Lovato conversou com a TATAME TV no primeiro dia do Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu e reafirmou o desejo de conquistar o segundo titulo mundial, o que seria um feito para um estrangeiro. “Na minha opinião, será um dos melhores Mundiais de todos os tempos, vai ser interessante. Meu ritmo está bom”, disse Lovato, animado. “Quero fechar com o Xande na final, seria incrível. Ser o primeiro estrangeiro a vencer o Mundial duas vezes seria a cereja do bolo”, revela.
