The Brazilian who currently has the best position on the heavyweight ranking, Junior Cigano dos Santos faces Roy Nelson on his next fight on UFC 107, in August. Champion of the last season of UFC’s reality show and former IFL champion, Roy is known for having a good standing game, but the Brazilian guarantees he will keep doing the same strategy he used on his previous fights and go for the knockout.
“Each fight is different, we never know what can happen, my strong point is the trade of punches, that’s my comfort zone. I’m going to go for it early in the fight, but, independently of what happens there, I have conditions to surprise him anywhere the fight goes to”, affirmed Cigano, who will stay in San Diego, in the United States, training with Rodrigo Minotauro and the black belt Xande Ribeiro until June 15, when he intends to come back to Brazil to finish his preparation for the fight in Salvador, with Luiz Carlos Dórea.
Going through the best moment on his career, the heavyweight hopes to crown the moment with UFC’s belt. “What has been happening to me is the result of a very hard work… I’m not the best in anything, but I try to be good in everything. This is an excellent moment for us and this fight will be the confirmation that we are here to become champions. Everyone is hoping for a great fight, I’ll stay alert and focused. He is dangerous, very tough, brave, comes forward, but I have the potential to beat him”, said, hoping to fight for the belt still on this year. “I’d be very good… If it’s not on the end of this year, it can be on the beginning of next year”, concluded.

O brasileiro mais bem rankeado entre os pesos pesados na atualidade, Junior Cigano enfrentará Roy Nelson em sua próxima luta no UFC 107, em agosto. Campeão da última edição do reality show do UFC e ex-campeão da extinta IFL, Roy é conhecido pela trocação afiada, mas o brasileiro garante que vai manter a mesma estratégia das lutas anteriores e partir em busca do nocaute.
“Luta é luta, nunca sabemos o que pode rolar, mas o meu carro chefe é a trocação e me sinto muito confortável trocando. Vou buscar isso no início da luta, mas, independente do que acontecer, tenho condições de surpreender em qualquer área”, afirmou Cigano, que ficará em San Diego, nos Estados Unidos, treinando com Rodrigo Minotauro e o faixa-preta Xande Ribeiro até o dia 15 de junho, quando pretende voltar para o Brasil para terminar a preparação para a luta em Salvador, com Luiz Carlos Dórea.
Na melhor fase de sua carreira, o peso pesado espera coroar o momento com o cinturão do UFC. “O que está acontecendo comigo é fruto de um trabalho duro... Não sou melhor em nada, mas tento ser bom em tudo. A gente está num excelente momento e essa luta vem trazer a confirmação que estamos aqui para ser campeões. Todo mundo pode esperar uma grande luta, vou estar bem ligado. Ele é perigoso, bastante duro, valente, caminha sempre pra dentro, mas tenho condições de vencer”, afirmou, esperando disputar o cinturão ainda este ano. “Seria muito bom... Se não for no final do ano, pode ser no início do ano que vem”, finalizou.
