King Mo, Tim Kennedy ready for Brazilians

On August 21, Brazil will have the chance to dispute two belts on Strikeforce, with Ronaldo Jacaré and Rafael Feijão, who will fight against Tim Kennedy and King Mo Lawal, respectively. Despite the trust on the Brazilian athletes, the non-Brazilians are not interested at all on watching a green-and-yellow party.

During a press conference for the event, which happened last night on the United States, King Mo Lawal, champion on the until 93kg of the organization, commented his duel with Rafael. “Feijao likes to bang so this is going to be an exciting fight. I’m going to show you all some new things I’ve been working on”, reveals the American.

After telling us his story on an exclusive X-Ray, published on TATAME Magazine on June of this year, King Mo hopes to defend his belt successfully against Feijão. “On coming into his first fight as champion. The approach doesn’t change. Going into every fight, I feel like both a champion and a challenger because I challenge myself in training, but I’m always champion in my mind”, guarantees.

Guaranteeing he watches Feijão’s fights several times a day, “from 10 to 15 times a day”, the champion does not want this war to last 25 minutes. I’m going to look to finish (Feijão) as fast as I can. I don’t ever want to fight a war. I always want to dominate and fight as one-sided a fight as possible”, warns Lawal, putting his title at risk for the first time.

Kennedy is ready for Jacare

On a lighter division, the left of Jake Shield left in the air the expectation of a GP to define the new champion among the middleweights, but the Athletic Commission did not allowed it and Strikeforce was obligated to match a fight for the title. It was then that Rafael Feijão and Tim Kennedy found out that their fight would worth a lot more.

“As your career progresses, every next fight is the most important one. After I beat Jacare and have the title, they’re going to say ‘Is this the most important fight of your career?’  I take every single fight with extreme seriousness and I take Jacare very seriously.  I have great respect for him as an athlete and as a fighter. He’s very talented”, compliments.

Takedown expert, according to what Jacaré told TATAME, Tim guarantees to give his best to try to do a good representation of his country on the octagon and guarantee the American domain of Strikeforce. “It’s a tough fight. I don’t know if he’s my toughest opponent, but it’s nice to be able to train full time, so this is going to be a tough fight for him”, concludes.

Gringos prometem roubar a festa brasileira

No dia 21 de agosto, o Brasil terá a chance de conquistar dois cinturões no Strikeforce, com Ronaldo Jacaré e Rafael Feijão disputando os títulos com Tim Kennedy e King Mo Lawal, respectivamente. Apesar da confiança da torcida na dupla tupiniquim, os gringos não estão nem um pouco interessados em assistir a um domínio verde-e-amarelo.

Durante uma coletiva de imprensa para o evento, que aconteceu na noite de ontem nos Estados Unidos, King Mo Lawal, campeão até 93kg da organização, comentou o duelo contra Rafael. “Feijão gosta de trocar então essa será uma luta emocionante. Eu vou mostrar a vocês algumas coisas novas que eu venho trabalhando”, revela o americano.

Após contar sua história em um Raio-X exclusivo, publicado pela Revista TATAME em junho deste ano, King Mo espera defender seu cinturão com sucesso contra Feijão. “Indo para uma luta eu sempre me sinto o campeão e o desafiante ao mesmo tempo, pois me desafio nos treinos, mas sempre com o campeão na mente. Nada vai mudar para esta luta”, garante.

Garantindo que assiste as lutas de Feijão diversas vezes por dia, “de 10 a 15 vezes por dia”, o campeão não quer saber de uma guerra de 25 minutos. “Eu vou para finalizar o Feijão o mais rápido possível. Eu não quero uma guerra. Eu sempre quero dominar uma luta o máximo possível”, avisa Lawal, colocando o título em jogo pela primeira vez.

Kennedy pronto para Jacaré

Na categoria de baixo, a saída de Jake Shields deixou no ar a expectativa da realização de um GP para definir o novo campeão dos médios, mas a Comissão Atlética local não permitiu e o Strikeforce foi obrigado a casar uma luta pelo título. Foi então que Ronaldo Jacaré e Tim Kennedy descobriram que sua luta valeria muito mais.

“Com a evolução da sua carreira, sua próxima luta é sempre a mais importante. Após eu bater Jacaré e tiver o cinturão, vão me perguntar se esta foi a luta mais importante da minha carreira. Eu levo cada luta muito a sério, e é assim com o Jacaré. Tenho muito respeito por ele como lutador e atleta. Ele é muito talentoso”, elogia.

Especialista em quedas, segundo detalhou Jacaré à TATAME, Tim garante estar dando o máximo de si para representar bem seu país dentro do octagon e garantir o domínio americano no Strikeforce. “É uma luta dura. Sei que ele será meu oponente mais duro, mas é legal poder treinar em tempo integral, então essa luta será dura para ele também”, finaliza.
