On the first day of competitions, the Worlds Pro Jiu Jitsu has already known all of their black-belted finalists, who will fight on Saturday for the eight tousand dollars prize, whcich will be given to the champion. Held at the Tennis Zayed Sport Center, the same stadium of the first edition, the event had a large audience and was broadcast live on Abu Dhabi TV. Tomorrow will be the girl’s turn and at the end of the day there will be the absolute black belt, which is to be determined until the semifinal. Happen on Saturday and the semifinals of the absolute, all finals, from white to black. Check below how the first day of competitions.
Mendes rules among the lightest
Again the Mendes brothers Rafael and Guilherme were left in the until 65kg category. While Guilherme has beaten three opponents, two of them by pints and a submission, Rafael only fought twice, submitting both with and arm-lock. According to Rafael, the brothers will be on the final. “We practice every day together in the gym. We have to fight for the public that came here to prestige us”, said Mendes.
Caloquinha and Durinho remained in until 74kg
FInalists of the Brazilians trials, Gilbert Durinho and Cláudio Caloquinha will confront each other on the lightweight finale, one of the most expected on the tournament. While Caloquinha submitted all of his opponents, including Michel Maia on the semi final, when he did a foot lock, on the other side Durinho submitted on his first fight, then fought against Jonatas Tagarela with a back choke on the second and beat Celsinho Venícius by 6x2 on the semi final grabbing the three times champion’s back.
Bráulio and Calasans in the medium’s finale
For the first time in this category, Bráulio Estima proved he’s comfort in the new weight. Braulio submitted quickly in your first fight, won the second by 3-0 and submitted Guto Campos with a choke in the semis. Across the key, Claudio Calasans, champion of the Gramado’s trial, Rio Grande do Sul, had to do four fights, winning by vantage in the semifinal against the world champion Delson Pé-de-Pano, which in the quarter finals had eliminated Andre Galvao by 3-1.
Barral submits in all fights and now faces Ceconi on the until 92kg finale
SInce last week in Abu Dhabi, the world champion Rômulo Barral was more than familiar with the Arabian time zone and showed this in his fights. Barral submitted all of his opponents to get to the final against Alexandro Ceconi, champion of the Gramado’s Trial. Ceconi got a tough key and had to beat four opponents to get to the until 92kg finale.
Vella and Demente are in the finale of the most disputed category
The category above 92kg was the toughest until the end. Last year’s vice champ, Gabriel Vella, who arrived yesterday in Abu Dhabi, after fighting the Pan Am of Jiu Jitsu in the last Sunday, got here relieved. After beating two opponents, Vella confronted his last year’s tormentor, Alexandre de Souza, who had won the trial and on the fist finale of the World Pro, and he revenged with a 10x0 score. On the semi final, Vella confronted the Rio de Janeiro’s trial, Marcos Bochecha, and beat the talented brown-belted by 2x0. On the other side of the key, Ricardo Demente, who won the Gramado’s trial, beat two opponents until he had to confront Luiz Felipe Big Mac on the semi final, and beat him by 2x0.

Definidas as finais do Mundial Profissional

Logo no primeiro dia de competições, o Mundial Profissional de Jiu-Jitsu já definiu todos os finalistas da faixa-preta, que brigarão no sábado pelo prêmio de oito mil dólares, que será dado ao campeão. Realizado na quadra de Tênis do Zayed Sport Center, mesmo estádio da primeira edição, o evento contou com um grande público e teve transmissão ao vivo pela Abu Dhabi TV. Amanhã será a vez das meninas e no final do dia acontecerá o absoluto faixa-preta, que será definido até a semifinal. No sábado acontecem as semifinais do absoluto e todas as finais, de branca a preta. Veja abaixo como foi o primeiro dia de competições.
Mendes dominam entre os levinhos
Mais uma vez os irmãos Rafael e Guilherme Mendes sobraram na categoria até 65kg. Enquanto Guilherme derrotou três adversários, sendo dois por pontos e um por finalização, Rafael entrou de bye e fez apenas duas lutas, finalizando rapidamente os dois combates com um arm-lock. Segundo Rafael os dois se enfrentarão na final. “Treinamos todos os dias juntos na academia. Temos que lutar para o público que veio aqui nos prestigiar”, disse Rafa.
Caloquinha e Durinho sobram até 74kg
Finalistas das seletivas brasileiros, Gilbert Durinho e Cláudio Caloquinha farão a final da categoria leve, uma das mais aguardadas da competição. Enquanto Caloquinha finalizou todos os seus adversários, inclusive na semifinal contra Michel Maia, quando aplicou uma americana no pé, do outro lado Durinho finalizou sua primeira luta, pegou Jonatas Tagarela com um estrangulamento pelas costas na segunda e venceu Celsinho Venícius por 6x2 na semifinal ao pegar as costas do tricampeão mundial.
Bráulio pega Calasans na final dos médios
Pela primeira vez lutando com 83kg, Bráulio Estima se mostrou a vontade no novo peso. Bráulio finalizou rápido a sua primeira luta, venceu a segunda por 3x0 e finalizou Guto Campos com um estrangulamento na semifinal. Do outro lado da chave, Claudio Calasans, campeão da seletiva de Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul, teve que fazer quatro lutas, vencendo na semifinal por vantagens o campeão mundial Délson Pé-de-Chumbo, que nas quartas de final havia eliminado André Galvão por 3x1 nas vantagens.
Barral finaliza todas e encara Ceconi na final até 92kg
Desde a semana passada em Abu Dhabi, o campeão mundial Rômulo Barral já estava mais do que acostumado com o fuso horário da arábia e demosntrou isso em suas lutas. Barral finalizou todos os seus adversários para chegar a final contra Alexandro Ceconi, campeão da seletiva de Gramado. Ceconi pegou uma chave duríssima e teve que bater quatro oponentes para conquistar a vaga para a grande final da categoria até 92kg.
Vella e Demente fazem final da categoria mais disputada
A categoria acima de 92kg foi a mais acirrada até o final. Vice-campeão ano passado, Gabriel Vella, que chegou ontem a Abu Dhabi depois de faturar o Pan-Americano de Jiu-Jitsu no último domingo, chegou a final de alma lavada. Depois de passar por dois adversários, Vella encarou seu algoz ano passado, Alexandre de Souza, que o havia vencido na seletiva e na final do primeiro Mundial Profissional, e deu o troco anotando 10x0 no placar. Na semifinal, Vella encarou o campeão da seletiva do Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Bochecha, e venceu o talentoso faixa-marrom por 2x0. Do outro lado da chave, Ricardo Demente, que venceu a seletiva brasileira de Gramado, passou por dois adversários até encarar Luiz Felipe Big Mac na semifinal, onde venceu o combate por 2x0.
