Gabriel Vella, que chegou ontem a Abu Dhabi depois de faturar o Pan-Americano de Jiu-Jitsu no último domingo, chegou a final de alma lavada. Depois de passar por dois adversários, Vella encarou seu algoz ano passado, Alexandre de Souza, que o havia vencido na seletiva e na final do primeiro Mundial Profissional, e deu o troco anotando 10x0 no placar.
“Estou surpreso... Não que eu não tenha condições de vencer, mas pelo desgaste que eu estava, parecia que eu tinha bebido, que estava lutando bêbado, mas como tudo na minha vida eu creio que deu está a frente e o meu diferencial hoje foi a concentração, eu não errei e isso rendeu um bom resultado”, contou, lavando a alma. “Eu já estava engasgado com o Alexandre... A gente já vem chegando e eu perdi na seletiva e aqui no ano passado e hoje consegui... Lavei a alma, fazer 10 pontos em um casca-grossa não é sempre”, comemora.
Porém, todo o esforço terá sido em vão caso Vella não fature o ouro no peso. Para isso, o atleta terá que superar Ricardo Demente, sábado. “A expectativa é a melhor possível porque é um cara que joga solto eu também gosto de jogar solto, vai ser luta que o publico gosta de ver, quem vai ganhar é só lá em cima que se sabe”, adianta, garantindo presença no absoluto. “Eu só ia pro Pan, aí rolou o convite aqui no meio do caminho. Eu já estava cansado, mas meus alunos mandaram vídeos incentivando e eu me dediquei e estou aqui. É gratificante ver o pessoal se emocionando”.
