Claudio Calasans is the great name of World Pro of Abu Dhabi this year. Overcoming the favorite Braulio Estima in the finals of the weight and absolute, Calasans brings home a belt and 28 thousand dollars. Within these categories, his teammates Rafael Mendes and Gilbert Durinho also shone. In other weights, Alexandre Ceconi, Ricardo Demente, Luanna Alzuguir and Gabrielle Garcia earned the titles.

Final: They promised. And so they did. In the brother’s fight, Rafa won for the second time the world pro championship with 4x2 on the scoreboard against Guilherme, in a fight with three sweeps.
74kg: Durinho sweeps Caloquinha and gets the golden medal
Finalists of the Brazilian’s trial, Gilbert Durinho and Cláudio Caloquinha with fight the light weight finale. While Caloquinha has submitted all of his opponents, including the semifinal with Michel Maia, Durinho submitted his first opponent, then fought Jonatas Tagarela and did a back choke and after that, he beat Celsinho Venícius by 6x2 on the semifinal where he grabbed the three times champion’s back.
Final: The 74kg grand finale was defined by details, in Atos favor. After Rafael Mendes won the light weight prize, Gilbert Durinho guaranteed another title for the team against Cláudio Caloquinha, with a shoulder sweep and won the US$8 thousand reward. Time for the boy from Niterói to party.
83kg: Calasans surprises Bráulio on weight
For the first time on the 83kg category, Bráulio Estima proved he’s comfortable in the new weight. Bráulio quickly submitted on his first fight, won the second with a 3x0 score and submitted Guto Campos with a choke on the semifinal. On the other side of the key, Cláudio Calasans, Gramado trial’s champion, had to fight four times, winning on the semifinal on the vantages the world champion Délson “Pé de Chumbo”.
Final: The third Atos title on the black belt came with Cláudio Calasans. Bráulio was winning but was surprised by a sweep in the last 10 seconds of fight and it ended up tied. However, a punishment given to Bráulio guaranteed the title for Calasans. Bráulio when with all his strength for the absolute, where there will be another duel between the black belts.
92kg: Ceconi overcomes world champion
The world champion Rômulo Barral submitted all of his opponents to get to the finale against Alexandro Ceconi, champion of the trial in Gramado. Ceconi got a hard key and had to beat four opponents to get the finale vacancy.
Final: Alexandre Ceconi got the coveted title and leaves Abu Dhabi with a full pocket. On the grand finale, against the world champion Rômulo Barral, the black belt got a spectacular recovery. After being loosing for two points, Ceconi passed Barral’s guard with only 10 seconds left and got the title (3x2).
Above 92kg: Demente sweeps and wins US$ 8 thousand
The above 92kg category was the toughest one. Last year’s second place, Gabriel Vella beat two opponents and confronted his last year’s tormentor, Alexandre de Souza and revenged with a 10x0 score. On the semifinal Vella fought Marcos Bochecha and won the talented brown belt by 2x0 On the other side there was Ricardo Demente, who has won the Gramado trial, passed for two opponents until he confronted Luiz Felipe Big Mac on the semifinal, winning by 2x0.
Final: Gabriel Vella did pretty well on his way to the finale and was doing a good job there with his vantages over Ricardo Demente. However, the black belt wasn’t counting with a sweep from the world vice champ of 2009 (CBJJ) on the last minute of fight and would conquest the victory for Nova União and the US$8 thousand on his bank account.
FEMALE:
63kg: Luanna is relieved after beating Bia
Luanna Alzuguir submitted her first opponent with a middle-guard choke and then had an easy time against the white belt, submitting her with an arm lock. The grand finale’s vacancy came with a two point’s victory. On the other side, the brown belt Bia Mesquita won her first fight by 2x0. Next, dispatched the blue belt without much difficulty with a guard choke, before submitting Hillary Willians with a back choke, after a 10x0 scoreboard. On the fight for the title, Bia and Luanna will do a rematch after the brown belt won by 2x0 on the trial’s final.
Final: After losing to Bia Mesquita on the trial’s finale, Luanna Alzuguir was relieved on the main tournament’s finale. The title came in a very tough fight, which was tied on 0x0 until the end. Luanna, who pulled the guard and kept trying a sweep during the whole time, got the gold – and the petrodollars – on the judge’s decision.
Above 63kg: Gabi gets her revenge and the gold
Between the heaviest, the champions of Brazilian’s trial Luzia Fernandes and Gabriele Garcia will fight against each other on the above 63kg category. On one side there is Luzia, who passed through her first opponent with a submission, before successfully fighting Rosângela Conceição and winning on the vantages. ON the other key, Gabi fought with the current world champion Lana Stefanac up front and beat her with a 4x0 scoreboard. The finale’s vacancy came with a submission.
Final: Achieving the desired rematch, Gabrielle Garcia won the gold on the above 63kg category with 8x2 on the scoreboard. The athlete was able to reverse and grab her opponent’s back twice, turning the score against Luzia, who did a fall early on. Alliance party in Abu Dhabi, with both titles in the female.

Cláudio Calasans é o grande nome do Mundial Profissional de Abu Dhabi neste ano. Superando o favorito Bráulio Estima nas finais do peso e do absoluto, Calasans leva para casa um cinturão e 28 mil dólares. Nas categorias, seus companheiros Rafael Mendes e Gilbert Durinho também brilharam. Nos outros pesos, Alexandre Ceconi, Ricardo Demente, Luanna Alzuguir e Gabrielle Garcia faturaram os títulos. Semifinais:

Até chegar à semifinal do absoluto, Bráulio Estima deu show, finalizando seus dois primeiros adversários, incluindo um arm-lock em Guto Campos e um 10x2 sobre Alexandre Ceconi. Seu adversário é Gabriel Vella, que eliminou Ricardo Demente e Guilherme Mendes. Do outro lado, Cláudio Calasans finalizou seus adversários e encara Alexandre de Souza, que finalizou seu primeiro adversário e em seguida eliminou André Galvão nas vantagens. A emoção foi tanta que até chuviscou em Abu Dhabi, um fato bastante raro.

65kg: Rafa supera Gui na final dos Mendes
Mais uma vez os irmãos Rafael e Guilherme Mendes sobraram na categoria até 65kg. Enquanto Guilherme derrotou três adversários, sendo dois por pontos e um por finalização, Rafael entrou de baia e fez apenas duas lutas, finalizando rapidamente os dois combates com um arm-lock. Segundo Rafael os dois se enfrentarão na final.
Final: Os dois prometeram. E cumpriram. Na luta entre irmãos, Rafa faturou o bicampeonato mundial profissional ao anotar 4x2 sobre Guilherme, numa luta com três raspagens.
74kg: Durinho raspa Caloquinha e leva o ouro
Finalistas das seletivas brasileiros, Gilbert Durinho e Cláudio Caloquinha farão a final da categoria leve. Enquanto Caloquinha finalizou todos os seus adversários, inclusive na semifinal contra Michel Maia, Durinho finalizou sua primeira luta, pegou Jonatas Tagarela com um estrangulamento pelas costas na segunda e venceu Celsinho Venícius por 6x2 na semifinal ao pegar as costas do tricampeão mundial.
Final: A grande final até 74kg foi definida nos detalhes, a favor da Atos. Após Rafael Mendes levar o peso mais leve, Gilbert Durinho garantiu mais um título para o time sobre Cláudio Caloquinha, com uma raspagem de omoplata, e levar o prêmio de US$ 8 mil. Festa do niteroiense em Abu Dhabi.
83kg: Calasans surpreende Bráulio no peso
Pela primeira vez lutando com 83kg, Bráulio Estima se mostrou a vontade no novo peso. Bráulio finalizou rápido a sua primeira luta, venceu a segunda por 3x0 e finalizou Guto Campos com um estrangulamento na semifinal. Do outro lado da chave, Claudio Calasans, campeão da seletiva de Gramado, teve que fazer quatro lutas, vencendo na semifinal por vantagens o campeão mundial Délson “Pé de Chumbo”.
Final: O terceiro título da Atos na faixa-preta veio com Cláudio Calasans. Bráulio estava à frente no placar, mas foi surpreendido por uma raspagem a 10 segundos do fim e a luta acabou empatada. Porém, uma punição dada a Bráulio garantiu o título de Calasans. Bráulio parte para o tudo ou nada na final do absoluto, que terá mais um duelo entre os faixas-pretas.
92kg: Ceconi supera campeão mundial
O campeão mundial Rômulo Barral finalizou todos os seus adversários para chegar a final contra Alexandro Ceconi, campeão da seletiva de Gramado. Ceconi pegou uma chave duríssima e teve que bater quatro oponentes para conquistar a vaga na final.
Final: Alexandre Ceconi conseguiu o sonhado título e deixa Abu Dhabi com o bolso mais cheio. Na grande final, contra o campeão mundial Rômulo Barral, o faixa-preta conseguiu uma recuperação espetacular. Após estar perdendo por 2x0, Ceconi passou a guarda de Barral a 10 segundos do fim e ficou com o título (3x2).
Acima de 92kg: Demente raspa e fatura US$ 8 mil
A categoria acima de 92kg foi a mais acirrada até o final. Vice-campeão ano passado, Gabriel Vella passou por dois adversários e encarou seu algoz ano passado, Alexandre de Souza, e deu o troco anotando 10x0 no placar. Na semi, Vella encarou Marcos Bochecha e venceu o talentoso faixa-marrom por 2x0. Do outro lado, Ricardo Demente, que venceu a seletiva de Gramado, passou por dois adversários até encarar Luiz Felipe Big Mac na semi, vencendo por 2x0.
Final: Gabriel Vella chegou muito bem à final, e estava caminhando rumo ao título com as vantagens conseguidas diante de Ricardo Demente. Porém, o faixa-preta não contava que o vice-campeão mundial de 2009 (CBJJ) conseguiria uma raspagem a um minuto do fim e conquistaria a vitória para a Nova União e o cheque de US$ 8 mil para sua conta bancária.
FEMININO:
63kg: Luanna lava a alma sobre Bia
Luanna Alzuguir finalizou sua primeira adversária com um estrangulamento da meia guarda e, em seguida, passou fácil por uma faixa-branca, finalizando com um arm-lock. A vaga na grande final veio com uma vitória por pontos. Do outro lado, a faixa-marrom Bia Mesquita venceu sua primeira luta por 2x0. Em seguida, despachou uma faixa-azul sem muita dificuldade com um estrangulamento da guarda, antes de finalizar Hillary Willians com um estrangulamento pelas costas, após abrir 10x0 no placar. Na luta pelo título, Bia e Luanna reeditarão a final da seletiva, quando a faixa-marrom venceu por 2x0.
Final: Após perder para Bia Mesquita na final da seletiva, Luanna Alzuguir lavou a alma na final do torneio principal. O título veio numa luta bastante acirrada, que permaneceu empatada em 0x0 até o final. Luanna, que puxou para a guarda e ficou insistindo na raspagem durante todo o tempo, ficou com o ouro – e os petrodólares – na decisão dos juízes.
Acima de 63kg: Gabi consegue a revanche e o ouro
Entre as mais pesadas, as campeãs das seletivas brasileiras Luzia Fernandes e Gabriele Garcia farão a final acima de 63kg. De um lado, Luzia passou pela primeira adversária com uma finalização, antes de eliminar Rosângela Conceição nas vantagens. Na outra chave, Gabi pegou a atual campeã mundial Lana Stefanac logo de cara, vencendo por 4x0 nas vantagens. A vaga na final veio com uma finalização.
Final: Conseguindo a sonhada revanche, Gabrielle Garcia faturou o ouro acima de 63kg com 8x2 no placar. A atleta conseguiu reverter e pegar as costas duas vezes, virando o placar contra Luzia, que conseguiu uma queda logo no começo. Festa da Alliance em Abu Dhabi, com os dois títulos no feminino.
