There are few days left before the most expected revenge of the year and TATAME talked to experts about the duel between Lyoto Machida and Maurício Shogun, which will happen on Staturday (8) on UFC 113, on Canada. Rudimar Fedrigo: “My expectations are that this fight will be better than the first, I wouldn’t bet on anyone. I believe the athletes will risk more, the fight will be more intense, more decisively. I think they won’t change much their strategies. What will change is their determination. The athlete who search more the knockout or the submission until the end will be the winner”
Demian Maia: “because they know each other, I hope the fight will be more aggressive. On the other fight Shogun went forward and Lyoto backward, even for their style, but I think Lyoto will risk more. I didn’t matter how aggressive Shogun was in the last fight, he has the respect for the unexpected, but he doesn’t have it anymore. They stood up there for almost half an hour, now they know each other. I love Lyoto, but I cheer for Shogun. We used to train together when he has his fight against Chuck Liddell. But I don’t know who will win”
Wanderlei Silva: “I think Shogun could see that Lyoto couldn’t hold him... Shogun really is a talent guy, if he’s well trained it’s hard to catch him and if he’s in a good shape as he was in the otehr fight, I don’t see him having much problems. Lyoto has a defensive style, moves very well and the judges must see it, but I think that fighting is about contact, otherwise the competition will became a marathon and that’s not good for the sport… Fighting is a contact sport. But I think this revenge is going to be very interesting, I’ll watch it live if I can, the first one was good enough for us to expect a lot from this. Lyoto could tell he has to do more than he did for winning this fight. Me, in particular, think that Shogun won the first fight. Me and the whole world. Only in Brazil people tought that Lyoto had won, I don’t know why. Shogun was upset with people from the television... People from TV has to understand that you have to judge the fight without being partial, the guy is there to narrate, he can not chose on side or another, the media has to be impartial or it will prejudice the show’s interpretation. The outsider who is watching is manipulated by the commentators speech and that can’t happen, it’s a thing to be rethink, the commentators has to be best chosen and can’t chose sides. Whoever is there narrating has to face it as a job and act in a professional way or give up for someone that is”
Jayme Sandall, karate coach: “I think Lyoto will win, he’s very focused and has being working hard. I believe Shogun will use the same strategy of the kicks and try to play on the counterattack,Lyoto I think will change a little bit and will focus on his speed, because he’s really fast and although Shogun is also fast, Lyoto is faster. I think Lyoto will keep his distance , get closer and then retrat… Shogun’s also a phenomenon, and for him the best thing would be to fight in a short distance, while for Lyoto is the other way around. Honestly I don’t believe in a knockout on this fight, even because both has never been knocked out , but I believe Lyoto will will in the judges round card”
Rogério Minotouro: “It’ll be a great fight. Shogun is doing just fine, recovering his good shape as he has during the Pride, is well physically, and Lyoto is in the prime of his career, a lot confident. I think the fight will be even better. I can’t predict who will win, because it’ll be very tied. I want Lyoto to win, but the first fight was ied and I think he’s coming back better, he could study Shogun and improve even more. On the other side, Shogun is training, got very close and let it go, but now he’ll try not to waste the opportunity. This fight will be awesome”
Bebeo Duarte: “I think Lyoto and Shogun’s fight will be tied as the first one was, but I don’t believe they’ll fight in the same way. I think both of them will change their strategies and bring up some new tactics. It’ll be a huge fight! I believe Lyoto will win, he won’t get caught by surprise anymore, he’ll show why he is the champion and will show his game”
Zé Mário Sperry: “The unpredictability is the essence of MMA. It is the beauty of the sport. Everything can happen. Meanwhile, I believe that, by the statistics of the previous fights, we could see something similar from what we saw in the last confrontation: a fight won by points, tied, with a light advantage of Lyoto. Again, it’s by the record, statistically more positive”
Ricardo Arona: “I believe that, if there’s no aggressiveness, is a case for the judge to tell the athlete to start fighting. On Lyoto’s case, even though his strategy is defensive, I think he has to be more daring and, if the fight is like the last one, with him going backwards, I think it must be interfered in order to have more combat. The round has five minutes and it can’t have just two or three attacks. Anderson Silva: “Each fight is different, each situation is particular. You can never know your opponent well enough. Shogun is a great fighter, a very tough one, but of course we want Lyoto to win. Is a good fight for the two of them”
Chinzo Machiza: “The fight itself is unpredictable, but Lyoto is more prepared than on the other time, more focused, stronger. I believe Lyoto will knockout, we are making him ready for it. It was his first belt defense and that took his focus away. He can be better than that. We’ve changed a lot. No one will want to leave the decisions for the judges. Lyoto was not happy with the critics and Shogun wasn’t thrilled by the result either. That can motivate them to define the fight, but we’ll only know that at the time”
Paulo Nikolai: “I would be ungrateful if I pointed one of them as the probable winner, but I want Shogun to win with a knockout. Everyone claimed that Shogun would lose, that Lyoto would easily beat him, but Shogun won the fight morally, so he’ll come more confident and Lyoto more aggressive. We will have a better fight this time”
Glover Teixeira: “Lyoto is really clever and I think he’ll win again on this fight against Shogun, maybe even easily. I see Shogun as the second within the division, because Lyoto is very tactical, make his opponents frustrated, I believe this will be a easier fight for him. I believe it’ll end on the fourth round, but if it goes for the judges round card, it’ll be in favor of Lyoto… But I think Lyoto will submit Shogun before that”
João Guilherme Bendley, Shogun’s karate sparring: “I think Lyoto is not changing much his style, because it worked until now. You can’t change ten years of trainings in four months, I think he’ll still be defensive because he does that pretty well, works on the counterattack or going for it. I think he’ll work on his timing, will be more prepared just like Shogun, but Shogun will win. I think this fight will be like the previous one, Shogun’s kicks are precise, I think this fight will be more aggressive, because both of them wants to show their abilities”
Glaube Feitosa: “As Lyoto must counterattack, Shogun must be aware of that and prepared to develop. He must take the counterattacks knowing it’ll happen otherwise we’ll be caught by surprise. The ideia is Shogun to through his blows upon Lyoto’s counterattacks. Shogun has to be the last to punch, a hard thing when we think about Lyoto, but that’s the goal”
Paulão Filho: “On this fight something different will happen. I think one of them will go down. On the first fight there was all that caution and Shogun knows that if that happens again, he’ll lose again. For the champion to lose by point, only if the owner of the event is very pissed with him or if it’s a big difference, thing that didn’t happen on that fight. I think Shogun must try more, what can be a good thing for Lyoto, but I think Lyoto is not used to athletes with so much potential. It’s a fight, man, that I want to see again. It’s very good to see the level they’ve achieved… It’ll be a fight to beat all of the pay-per-view records”
Murilo Ninja: “Shogun will go for it all the time. I’m sure he’ll win this one, he’s very talented. Well trained, my brother is the best of the world on this weight division”
Daniel Woirin: “I though the fight was tied, and people focused a lot on the hands, the punches, but Shogun kicked a lot and annulled Lyoto’s punches. I’d say it was a draw. It’s very hard to chose one of them. Now they’ll come with all of their Power for this second fight, it’ll be interesting. There are always ways, just like Lyoto can find his own ways, but I think it’s not the decisive thing. The decisive thing will be their state of mind, because it’s a lot of pressure they’ve been through. I have a tactic for the two of them, but I’m not telling, it’s a secret (laughs)”

Faltam dois dias para a revanche mais aguardada do ano, e a TATAME foi atrás da opinião dos especialistas para o duelo entre Lyoto Machida e Maurício Shogun, que acontece no próximo sábado (8) no UFC 113, no Canadá. Wanderlei Silva, Rogério Minotouro, Anderson Silva, Zé Mário Sperry, Ricardo Arona, Sérgio Cunha... O time de especialistas analisou o confronto, e o resultado foi muito parelho. Rudimar Fedrigo: “A minha expectativa é que essa luta seja melhor do que a primeira, eu não apostaria em ninguém. Acredito que os atletas vão arriscar mais, vai ser uma luta mais aberta, mais decisiva. Acho que as estratégias não vão mudar muito, acho que o diferencial vai ser mais determinação de ambas as partes. O atleta que buscar mais o nocaute ou a finalização até o último instante da luta é que vai ser o vencedor”
Demian Maia: “Como eles já se conhecem, espero uma luta mais agressiva. Na outra o Shogun andou mais pra cima, o Lyoto andou mais pra trás, até pelo estilo de cada um, mas acho que o Lyoto vai arriscar mais agora. Por mais que o Shogun fosse agressivo na outra, ele tinha o respeito pelo inesperado, mas agora não tem mais isso. Eles ficaram lá em cima quase meia hora, agora eles se conhecem bem. Adoro o Lyoto, mas torço pelo Shogun. Treinamos um tempo quando ele ia lutar com o Chuck Liddell. Mas não sei quem vai ganhar”
Wanderlei Silva: “Eu acho que o Shogun viu que o Lyoto não conseguiu segurá-lo... O Shogun realmente é um cara muito talentoso, treinado é muito difícil de pegá-lo e se ele estiver na mesma forma do que da última vez, não vejo problemas. O Lyoto tem um estilo mais defensivo, se movimenta muito bem e os juízes têm que ver isso, mas acho que luta é um esporte de contato, se não daqui a pouco vai ganhar quem corre mais, isso não é bom para o esporte... A luta é um esporte de contato. Mas, acho que essa revanche vai ser muito interessante, se eu puder vou assistir ao vivo, a primeira luta já abriu um precedente para que a segunda seja espetacular. O Lyoto viu que vai ter que fazer mais do que fez na primeira para ganhar. Eu particularmente acho que o Shogun ganhou a primeira luta, eu e o mundo inteiro, só no Brasil que o pessoal achou que o Lyoto ganhou, não sei por quê. O Shogun estava chateado com o pessoal da TV... O pessoal da TV também tem que entender o seguinte: as pessoas tem que julgar a luta de maneira imparcial, o cara está ali para narrar, ele não pode ter partido ou se filiar a atleta A ou B, a mídia tem que ser imparcial ou abre-se um precedente muito grande que desvaloriza o show. O leigo que está assistindo é manipulado pelo que o comentarista fala e isso não pode acontecer, é uma coisa que deve ser revista, os comentaristas têm que ser selecionados e não podem tomar partido nenhum. Quem está ali comentando tem que encarar como um trabalho e agir de uma maneira profissional ou dar lugar para um profissional”
Jayme Sandall, treinador de Caratê: “Eu acho que vai dar Lyoto, ele está muito focado e vem fazendo um duro trabalho. Acredito que o Shogun vai usar a mesma estratégia das caneladas e tentar jogar no contragolpe, já o Lyoto acredito que vai vir um pouco diferente, vai dar mais ênfase na velocidade, pois ele é muito rápido e apesar de o Shogun também ser veloz, o Lyoto é mais rápido. Acredito que o Lyoto vai lutar mais de longe, apostar na longa distância, entrar e sair... O Shogun também é um fenômeno, e a luta para ele é melhor na curta distância, enquanto que para o Lyoto é ao contrário. Sinceramente não acredito em nocaute nessa luta, até porque os dois atletas nunca foram nocauteados, mas creio que o Lyoto vá vencer na decisão dos juízes”
Rogério Minotouro: “Vai ser um lutão. O Shogun está muito bem, voltando àquela grande fase do Pride, muito bem preparado fisicamente, e o Lyoto está na melhor fase da carreira dele, naquela confiança. Acho que dessa vez vai ter uma luta ainda melhor. Não tem como prever quem vai vencer, pois será uma luta muito parelha. Torço pelo Lyoto, mas a primeira luta foi muito parelha e acho que ele vai voltar melhor, deu uma estudada no jogo do Shogun e ele vai se aprimorar mais. Em contra partida, o Shogun está treinando, chegou muito perto e deixou escapar, mas agora ele vai tentar não desperdiçar. É uma luta que vai empolgar”
Bebeo Duarte: “Acho que a luta entre o Lyoto e o Shogun será muito disputada como foi a primeira, mas não acredito que se repetirá a mesma maneira de lutar. Acho que os dois modificarão o jeito de lutar e ambos vão estudar novas táticas de luta. Mas será um lutaço! Acredito que o Lyoto vença, ele não vai ser mais uma vez pego de surpresa, vai mostrar o porquê de ser o campeão do peso e vai colocar o seu jogo em prática”
Zé Mário Sperry: “A imprevisibilidade é a característica mais marcante do MMA. É o que o esporte tem de mais belo. Tudo pode acontecer. Entretanto, acredito que pela estatística dos resultados das lutas anteriores de ambos atletas, poderíamos presenciar uma algo muito parecido com o último confronto: uma luta vencida por pontos, bem disputada, com uma leve vantagem do Lyoto. De novo, isso pelo seu histórico, estatisticamente mais positivo”
Ricardo Arona: “Acredito que, se não houver agressividade, é o caso de o juiz mandar o atleta procurar a luta. No caso do Lyoto, embora a estratégia dele seja a defensiva, acho que ele precisa ser mais ousado e, se a luta for novamente como a última, ele andando para trás, acho que a luta deve ser interferida para que tenha mais combate. O round tem cinco minutos e não pode ficar só com dois ou três ataques. É impossível dar um palpite, porque os dois tem a estrela e coração de campeão, quem tiver melhor no momento e for mais ousado vai levar”
Anderson Silva: “Cada luta é uma luta, cada situação é uma situação. Nunca ninguém conhece ninguém bem o suficiente. Shogun é um grande lutador, casca-grossíssima, mas logicamente vamos estar torcendo para o Lyoto. É uma luta para os dois”
Chinzo Machiza: “A luta em si não tem como prever, mas o Lyoto está mais bem preparado que da outra vez, mais focado na luta, mais forte. Eu acredito num nocaute do Lyoto, a gente está de preparando para isso. Foi a primeira defesa de cinturão dele, isso tirou um pouco o foco da luta. Ele pode ter um desempenho melhor que aquele. Mudamos muita coisa. Ninguém vai querer deixar de novo na decisão. O Lyoto não ficou muito satisfeito com as críticas e o Shogun também não deve ter ficado satisfeito com o resultado. Isso pode colocar os dois para definir a luta, mas isso só vamos saber na hora”
Paulo Nikolai: “Eu estaria sendo ingrato em apontar um ou outro, mas para essa luta o meu preferido é o Shogun, e que seja nocaute. Que o Shogun vença mesmo para tirar todas as dúvidas, isso é o mundo todo que está falando. Eu sou do Muay Thai e o Shogun defende essa bandeira. Mas o Shogun não pode vacilar, senão vai tomar uma bomba.Ele bate para arrebentar, é muito inteligente na luta. Acho que ele vai dar um pouco mais de ênfase nas combinações, ele sabe fazer força na hora certa e amadureceu muito. Acho que ele vai usar estratégia superior a que ele usou”
Thiago Silva: “Vai ser outra batalha. Gosto do Shogun, torço por ele... Ele já ganhou uma vez e tem todo potencial para ganhar de novo. Eu já treinei com o Shogun e pelo que eu conheço dele, é um cara muito determinado. O Lyoto pode se preparar que o Shogun vai vir em dobro contra ele”
Sérgio Cunha: “Eu acho que a revanche vai ser sensacional, até porque o Lyoto vai voltar bem melhor e o Shogun também. Todo mundo dizia que o Shogun ia perder, que o Lyoto ia esculachar, mas o Shogun venceu a luta moralmente, então ele vai voltar mais confiante, e o Lyoto vai voltar mais agressivo. Vamos ter uma luta melhor que essa”
Glover Teixeira: “O Lyoto é muito inteligente e acho que ele vai ganhar novamente a luta contra o Shogun, talvez até com mais facilidade. Eu vejo o Shogun como o segundo da categoria, porque o Lyoto é muito estratégico, ele deixa os oponentes frustrados, acho que essa luta vai ser mais fácil para ele. Acredito que termine no quarto round, mas se for para a decisão, acho que vai ser bem favorável para o Lyoto... Mas acho que o Lyoto vai finalizar isso antes”
João Guilherme Bendley, sparring de Caratê de Shogun: “Acho que o Lyoto não vai mudar muito o estilo dele, porque foi o que deu certo até agora. Você não consegue mudar dez anos de treinamento em quatro meses, acho que ele vai continuar sendo defensivo porque ele faz isso muito bem, contragolpeando ou atacando de encontro. Acho que ele vai afiar mais o tempo dele, vai estar mais preparado assim como o Shogun, mas vai dar Shogun. Acho que vai ser parecido com a última luta, os chutes do Shogun não tem como não entrar, acho que essa luta vai ser agressiva, mais do que a anterior, pois os dois precisam mostrar serviço”
Glaube Feitosa: “Como o Lyoto deve contra golpear, o Shogun deve estar ciente disso e preparado para devolver. Ele tem que tomar o contragolpe sabendo que vai acontecer para não ser pego de surpresa, a idéia é o Shogun jogar os golpes em cima dos contra golpes do Lyoto. O Shogun tem que ser o último a bater, algo difícil em se tratando de Lyoto, mas o objetivo é esse”
Paulão Filho: “Nessa luta, algo diferente vai acontecer. Eu acho que um dos dois vai descer. A primeira luta já teve aquela cautela toda e o Shogun sabe que se isso se repetir ele vai perder de novo. Pro campeão perder por pontos, só se o dono do evento estiver muito puto com ele ou se a margem for muito grande, coisa que não aconteceu naquela luta. Eu acredito que o Shogun vai ter que ir mais para cima, o que pode favorecer o Lyoto, mas acredito que o Lyoto não esteja acostumado a atletas com tanto volume assim. É uma luta, rapaz, que quero ver de novo. É muito bom ver o grau técnico que dois atletas chegaram... Vai ser uma luta para bater recorde de pay-per-view”
Murilo Ninja: “O Shogun vai buscar a vitória o tempo todo. Tenho certeza que ele vai ganhar essa luta, ele é muito talentoso. O meu irmão bem treinado é o melhor do mundo nesse peso”
Daniel Woirin: “Achei essa luta muito equilibrada e as pessoas focaram muito no lado da mão, no soco, mas o Shogun chutou muito e anulou os socos do Lyoto. Eu daria empate. É muito difícil de definir essa luta, agora na segunda luta os dois vão chegar com tudo, vai ser muito interessante. Sempre existem brechas, assim como o Lyoto também pode achar brechas, mas acho que não é isso que vai definir a luta e sim o psicológico, pois vai ser uma pressão muito grande para os dois lutadores. Eu tenho uma tática para os dois, mas também não vou falar, é segredo (risos)”
