Until the brown belt, the Mendes’s brothers has split all championships they have joined. On the black belt the two decided to fight in different divisions, but both has been showing the same talent and conquering the same success they has in the previous belt categories. While Rafael was two times champion of World Pro and ADCC’s champion, Guilherme was the World champion on the black belt category among the light feathers and on the last weekend he got the SP Cup’s gold, guaranteeing the package to CBJJ’s World.
“Thank God I’ve been managing to get better from one competition to another and on this one I fought again tough opponents and managed to do the submissions. That shows I’m evolving on my trainings and I’m going for the right direction”, said Gui, who dreams about being the champion of the category again. “This competition was a part of my training for the World, my trains starts to be done really earlier and now I got this award, this ticket and that makes me more calm. We are doing the preparation on the main gym of Atos, in Rio Claro, where all of black belts of Atos are gathered, everyone goes there so that we do a cam and get really strong on the World, where I’ll fight for becoming the champion again”, concluded.

Com passagem, Mendes briga pelo bi mundial

Até a faixa marrom, os irmãos Mendes fecharam todos os campeonatos que participaram. Na faixa-preta os dois resolveram lutar em categorias diferentes, mas ambos vem mostrando o mesmo talento e conquistando o mesmo sucesso das faixas anteriores. Enquanto Rafa foi bicampeão do Mundial Profissional e campeão do ADCC, Guilherme faturou o cobiçado título Mundial na faixa-preta entre os plumas e neste final de semana levou o ouro na SP Cup, garantindo passagem e hospedagem para o Mundial da CBJJ.
“Graças a Deus eu tenho conseguido me desenvolver mais a cada competição e nessa competição eu lutei contra adversários bem difíceis e consegui chegar as finalizações. Isso mostra que o meu treino vem evoluindo muito e eu estou no caminho certo”, avaliou Gui, que sonha com o bi mundial da categoria. “Essa competição foi parte do treinamento para o Mundial, mas meu treino já vem de muito antes, e agora fui premiado com essa passagem, o que me dá uma tranqüilidade. Nós vamos fazer a preparação na matriz da Atos, em Rio Claro, os faixas-pretas da Atos já estão todos reunidos, os competidores todos vão estar lá para a gente fazer um camp e chegar 100% no Mundial, onde vou brigar pelo bi campeonato”, complementou.
