Celsinho jokes: “This is my cachaça”

Three-time world champion of Jiu-Jitsu, the black belt Celsinho Venícius did not win the fourth title in California, but is glad with his performance on the fights that brought him to the light weight’s finale, against the young two-time champion Michael Langhi. “I wasn’t ready as I wanted to be, but according to what I could do, things went just fine, because I world a lot and I give my best on my trainings”, said, guaranteeing that his presence on the competitions is not only for love.

“Langhi is a very tough guy, excellent, for me it was great. He’s a great professional athlete, trains all day long, I’m a coach and I come here to play a bit and give him a hard time… This is my cachaça, to feel the adrenalin”, jokes the “addicted” guy, who promises to come stronger on 2011’s edition. “This is not the result I wanted, but I’ll train hard to change that”. Despite all rivalry before World, Celsinho leaves the polemic aside. “I still have one world title ahead of him, but Langhi is excellent… This number one thing is bullshit, it was a joke. He’s an excellent athlete, I can’t say much about him”, said, making it clear that the polemic was only an extra spice for World.

“We are professionals. Independently of what the other guy says. That’s what makes things exciting… We have to respect each other and that’s what will make JIu-Jitsu grow. The rivalry is a part of a joke, it’s healthy, but we always respect each other”. Leaving the win escape on the judge’s decision, after the draw on the points and vantages, Celsinho comments the result. “At the end we got stuck… Most people said I won. The fight ended tied and I believe that the judge could have given the win for anyone, maybe I lacked catch… I was a little tired, my biceps muscle fatigue and I wasn’t managing to do a good catch and that disturbed me a little… The judge gave it to him, congratulations”, says the three-time champion, who wants another finale against Langhi on World 2011.

Tricampeão mundial de Jiu-Jitsu, o faixa-preta Celsinho Venícius não conseguiu o tetracampeonato na Califórnia, mas está feliz com o desempenho que o levou até a grande final do peso leve, contra o jovem bicampeão Michael Langhi.

“Não cheguei no ritmo que eu queria, mas de acordo com o que eu posso o ritmo foi bom, pois eu trabalho bastante e dou bastante”, disse, garantindo que a presença na competição não é por amor. “O Langhi é um cara duro, excelente, pra mim foi ótimo. Ele é um atleta profissional, só treina o dia inteiro, eu sou professor e venho aqui fazer uma graça e dar trabalho para ele... Essa é a minha cachaça, sentir essa adrenalina”, brinca o “viciado”, que promete voltar mais forte em 2011. “Não é o resultado que eu queria, mas vou treinar para tentar mudar isso aí”.

Apesar de toda a rivalidade anterior ao Mundial, Celsinho deixa a polêmica de lado. “Eu ainda estou um titulo mundial na frente dele, mas o Langhi é excelente... Esse negócio de número um é besteira, foi uma brincadeira. Ele é um excelente atleta, não tenho o que falar dele”, afirmou, deixando claro que uma pimentinha ajuda a temperar o Mundial. “A gente é profissional. Independente do que um ou outro fala. Isso é para apimentar a disputa... Temos que nos respeitar e é isso que vai fazer o Jiu-Jitsu crescer. A rivalidade faz parte da brincadeira, é saudável sempre nos respeitamos”.

Deixando a vitória escapar nas mãos dos juízes, após o empate na pontuação e vantagens, Celsinho comenta o resultado. “Na final o jogo ficou muito travado... A maioria das pessoas vieram me falar que eu ganhei. A luta terminou empatada e acho que o juiz poderia ter dado para qualquer um dos dois, talvez tenha faltado um pouco mais de pegada... Fiquei um pouco cansado, a musculatura do bíceps fadigou e eu não estava conseguindo fazer pegada legal e isso me atrapalhou um pouco... O juiz deu pra ele, parabéns”, pondera o tricampeão, que espera mais uma final contra Langhi no Mundial de 2011.
