Away from World of Jiu-Jitsu for seven years, Márcio Pé de Pano Cruz is back to his favorite place this weekend. Fighting the World of Jiu-Jitsu for the first time on the United States, the tough guy, who say goodbye for the tournament when he gained the title, gets to the competition without any pressure.
“If I had trained 100% for the World, I’d fight the absolute, but as I didn’t I chose not to do it, because, in fact, I came here to have fun. For me it’s not a new thing, I fought against all of these guys… Of course the timing was different, they improved a lot, but I believe I have a chance. I came here to have fun, I respect my opponents, but I was champion because I deserved”, said, betting on his experience. “I’m 32 years-old and some injuries… Despite not having trained much, I did good trainings. The quantity was low, but the quality was high”.
After some injuries, Pé de Pano wants to shine. “I was a irreverent guy, an immature fighter, I used to said more than I should, said too much, but that time is gone. Now I want to act more than speak, which is more important. I’m more mature… I’m just not going to stop being sincere, but now I think if it’s worth saying before speaking”, guarantees the fighter, who has fought on UFC before. “After I started to focus on MMA I never had another change to fight Jiu-Jitsu, MMA became my main focus, but now I have my own gym and I’m training”, concluded.

Pé de Pano: “Quero fazer mais do que falar”

Afastado do Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu há sete anos, Márcio Pé de Pano Cruz volta ao seu lugar preferido neste final de semana. Lutando o Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu pela primeira vez nos Estados Unidos, o casca-grossa, que se despediu do torneio faturando o título, chega à competição sem pressão.
“Se eu tivesse treinado 100% para o Mundial eu iria lutar o absoluto, mas como não consegui optei por não disputar, mas na verdade eu vim para me divertir. Para mim não é novidade, eu já lutei com todos esses caras... É claro que são outras épocas, eles evoluíram muito, mas eu acredito que tenha chances. Vim para me divertir, respeito meus adversários mas não fui campeão à toa”, disse, apostando na experiência. “Já estou com 32 anos e algumas lesões... Apesar de ter treinado pouco, treinei bem. A quantidade foi pouca, mas a qualidade foi boa”.
Passadas algumas contusões, Pé de Pano quer brilhar. “Eu era um cara meio irreverente, um Pé de Pano meio imaturo, falava o que não devia, falava demais, mas essa época passou. Agora quero fazer mais do que falar, que é mais importante. Estou mais maduro... Uma coisa que eu não vou deixar de ser é sincero, mas agora eu peso na balança para não falar qualquer coisa”, garante o lutador, que já teve suas passagens pelo UFC. “Depois comecei a me dedicar ao MMA nunca mais pintou a oportunidade de lutar Jiu-Jitsu, eu estava só treinando MMA, mas agora que estou com minha academia estou treinando”, finalizou.
