The 74kg grand finale was defined by details. After Rafael Mendes won the light weight prize, Gilbert “Durinho” Burns guaranteed another title for the team against Cláudio Caloquinha, with a shoulder sweep and won the US$8 thousand reward.
“Thanks God I won. I’ve been working really hard, made up a good strategy, couldn’t make it easy standing. I put my game down, attacking the scapula, I accelerated a little more and got the victory”, celebrates, following the advices from Ramon Lemos. "He asked me to play all the time with his legs loose, to keep doing the same game and go deleting his. I didn’t let him hold my legs and was a winner, thank God."
And the eight thousand dollars check already have a certain destination, said the boy from Niterói."This money is a big incentive. A grande final até 74kg do Mundial Profissional foi definida nos detalhes. Após Rafael Mendes levar o peso mais leve, Gilbert Durinho garantiu mais um título para o time sobre Cláudio Caloquinha, com uma raspagem de omoplata, e levou o prêmio de US$ 8 mil.
“Graças a Deus eu saí com a vitoria. Venho treinando forte aí, montei uma estratégia boa, não podia dar mole no pé. Botei o meu jogo por baixo, atacando no omoplata, acelerei mais um pouco e consegui a vitória”, festeja, seguindo os conselhos de Ramon Lemos. “Ele pediu para eu jogar o tempo todo com as pernas soltas, para ir fazendo o mesmo jogo e ir anulando dele. Não o deixei prender minha pernas e fui o campeão, graças a Deus”.
E os oito mil dólares de premiação já têm um destino certo, adianta o niteroiense. “Essa grana é um grande incentivo. Vou poder ajudar minha família, diante de toda dificuldade de Niterói... Isso veio em uma boa hora”, revela, já com a cabeça voltada para o Mundial da Califórnia. “Não dá nem para citar nomes, tem o Formiga, o Tagarela, Langhi, Lucas, Caloquinha, Celsinho... Não tem favorito, o favorito vai ser decidido lá no dia. Quem lutou bem, conseguiu treinar bem... Acho que eu tenho chance com qualquer um lá, vou chegar forte nesse Mundial”, finalizou.
