UFC heat up last night, but the Valentine’s Day in Rio de Janeiro was also filled with fights. With two belt disputes, Shooto Brazil excited the Wonderful City, but it was on the fights with no belt involves that the audience yelled more on Bennet College, on Flamengo’s neighborhood.

Being considered as the best striker on his division, Bruno Carvalho confronted the dangerous Felipe Olivieri, and the expectations were for a fight full of punches. And so it happened. The combat started very busy, and Bruno’s punched were more efficient and he got a knockdown early on the fight. The referee Marlon Sandro interrupted the fight and showed a yellow card to Bruno, who had hit Olivieri’s neck.

The duel restarted standing, and Bruno had the vantage once again, letting Felipe dizzy on the grid. Olivieri recovered and hit CM System’s pupil. Feeling the danger of his opponent’s punches, Felipe took Bruno to the ground, making clear his technical superiority on Jiu-Jitsu and got the back and even fit a rear naked choke. Felipe’s win and Bruno’s team revolt, regretting the intermission on the beginning of the fight.

FORMIGA DEFENDS HIS BELT WITH TAKEDOWNS

Considered the best fighter of the world in his division, Jussier Formiga put his belt at risk against Alexandre Pantoja, and it was a very tough fight. Making clear that his strategy was to make the fight happen on the ground, Formiga did several takedowns, but could not work on his Jiu-Jitsu or ground and pound against Alexandre, who tried to punch him on the face while he was on the bottom of Formiga. It happened all over again during 15 minutes of fight, with the judges scoring in favor of the champion Formiga.

Another controversy fight was the duel between Rony Marques and Wanderlan Vila Cruzeiro. Unbeaten in five fights in a roll, Rony went for it on the beginning of the fight, taking his opponent down and punishing him on the ground and pound until the referee’s intermission. Róbson Relma, Wanderlan’s coach, complained a lot with the referee, who, in his opinion, had not punished Kimura’s athlete, claiming that his pupil was hit on his neck several times by his opponent. Despite the complaints, Rony’s win.

The Spanish Miguel Duran gave another show on Shooto. Very aggressive, hi went forward over Rodrigo Saverda, and won the fight by technical knockout at 3min1s of fight, with a very aggressive ground and pound game. On an exciting fight, Leonardo Porto won by submission with a guillotine, forcing Fábio Larvinha to tap out at 5min59s of the first round. Hernani Perpétuo was another one who made a good presentation, knocking out Alexander Andreotte with a nice punch.

Olivieri vence duelo quente no Shooto Brasil

O UFC agitou a noite de ontem, mas o dia dos namorados no Rio de Janeiro também foi recheado de lutas. Com dois cinturões em jogo, o Shooto Brasil esquentou a Cidade Maravilhosa, mas foi uma luta sem títulos em jogo que levantou mais o público no auditório da Faculdade Bennet, no bairro do Flamengo.

Considerado o melhor striker do Brasil até 70kg, Bruno Carvalho enfrentou o perigoso Felipe Olivieri, e a expectativa era de trocação pura. E foi exatamente o que aconteceu. O combate começou eletrizante, com Bruno levando vantagem na trocação e conseguindo um knockdown logo no começo. O árbitro Marlon Sandro interrompeu a luta e deu um cartão amarelo a Bruno, que teria acertado a nuca de Olivieri.

O duelo recomeçou em pé, e Bruno novamente levou vantagem, deixando Felipe tonto nas cordas. Olivieri se recuperou e acertou o pupilo de CM System, que balançou. Sentindo o perigo na trocação, Felipe levou Bruno para o chão, deixando evidente sua superioridade técnica no Jiu-Jitsu ao chegar às costas e finalizar com um mata-leão. Vitória de Felipe e revolta da equipe de Bruno, lamentando a intervenção no começo da luta.

FORMIGA DEFENDE CINTURÃO COM QUEDAS

Considerado o melhor lutador do mundo até 56kg, Jussier Formiga colocou seu cinturão em jogo contra Alexandre Pantoja, e foi uma luta duríssima. Deixando claro que sua estratégia era levar a luta para o chão, Formiga conseguiu diversas quedas em Pantoja, mas não conseguiu trabalhar o Jiu-Jitsu ou o ground and pound contra Alexandre, que tentava castigar o rosto de Formiga por baixo. O panorama se repetiu durante os 15 minutos de luta, com os juízes decretando a vitória para o campeão Formiga.

Outra luta que rendeu polêmica foi o duelo entre Rony Marques e Wanderlan Vila Cruzeiro. Invicto em cinco lutas, Rony partiu para cima de Wanderlan logo no começo da luta, derrubando o oponente e castigando no ground and pound para a interrupção do árbitro. Róbson Relma, treinador de Wanderlan, reclamou bastante com o árbitro, que não teria punido o atleta da equipe Kimura, dizendo que este acertou diversos golpes na nuca de seu adversário. Apesar das reclamações, a vitória foi para Rony.

O espanhol Miguel Duran deu mais um show no Shooto. Bastante agressivo, ele partiu com tudo para cima de Rodrigo Saverda, conseguindo a vitória por nocaute técnico em apenas 3min18s de luta, com um ground and pound agressivo. Numa luta emocionante, Leonardo Porto conseguiu a vitória por finalização com uma guilhotina, forçando Fábio Larvinha a bater aos 4min59s do round inicial. Hernani Perpétuo foi outro que venceu bem, nocauteando Alexander Andreotte com um belo cruzado.
