In soccer, a taboo is always remembered before two rivals face each other. To the fan, if his team usually has better results in the matches, he’ll expect more the victory, it doesn’t matter if you team is better or worst comparing to the opponent’s. Taking this theory – or superstition – to MMA, Rodrigo Minotauro and Wanderlei Silva’s fans was highly confident in two victories at UFC 110.

 

 

The fact of both having the same result when they fight in the same night was the first reason to excitement, but the confidence was to know that Minotauro had never lost to an undefeated fighter before. But, nine years later, these taboos were broken. After a great victory from Wanderlei Silva over Michael Bisping, where he showed a big evolution in his game, the victory of the young Cain Velasquez over our heavyweight ruined the Brazilian party.

 

 

Even with the loss, Minotauro remains an idol and an example of overcoming. It’s almost 11 years fighting in the highest level possible and remaining at the top 10 of the division. But, as it’s normal from the Brazilians, who always forget what his idols have done, some started thinking about retirement. For those who know Rodrigo’s strength and will – who was ran over by a truck when was a kid and didn’t quit – we can expect another great moment against another monster of the category.

 

 

Speak about religion always was a polemical subject. But the truth is that, when the problem comes, God is always remembered. Ask for help, thank of ask for forgiveness doesn’t make you a religious people or a man of faith. The religiousness in Brazil is such that some believe God is Brazilian, and don’t come here to said the opposite. The demonstrations of faith from a lot of MMA fighters motivated us to bring the report of the edition  #169. We passed two months interviewing fathers, religious athletes and more to understand why God is a phenomenon of popularity inside the Vale Tudo rings.

 

 

In Jiu-Jitsu, pumped by the Olympic Game of 2016 in Rio de Janeiro and by the Council formed by great masters – which promises to create a confederation to make the gentle art an Olympic sport, we went after the COB and COI rules to know what it’s needed to do to make this dream come true. If the Olympics were a reality, Ary Farias would be a probable candidate to win the golden medal to Brazil. In the Profile of this month, the young brown belt tells his story and dreams about following his idol’s steps, Ronaldo Jacaré. The Jiu-JItsu is the subject at the chat too, where we spoke with the European champion, Gustavo Campos, who wrote his name in the hall of Rio Grande do Sul great talents.

 No futebol, a escrita vale muito antes de uma partida entre dois rivais. Para o torcedor, se o seu time de coração leva vantagem nos confrontos, a expectativa por uma vitória aumenta, independente se o seu clube é melhor ou pior do que o do adversário. Levando essa teoria – ou supertição - para o MMA, os fãs de Rodrigo Minotauro e Wanderlei Silva estavam confiantes em duas vitórias brazucas no UFC 110. O fato dos dois obterem o mesmo resultado quando lutam na mesma noite era o primeiro motivo de euforia, mas a maior confiança era saber que Minotauro nunca havia perdido para um lutador invicto. Mas, depois de nove anos, essas escritas foram quebradas. Após uma vitória de lavar alma de Wanderlei Silva sobre Michael Bisping, onde mostrou uma grande evolução em seu jogo, a vitória do jovem Cain Velasquez sobre o nosso baiano estragou a festa verde e amarela.

Mesmo com a derrota, Minotauro continua sendo um ídolo e um exemplo de superação. São quase 11 anos lutando em altíssimo nível e se mantendo como top 10 da categoria. Mas, como é de costume do brasileiro, que sempre esquece o feito de seus ídolos e não os reverenciam, alguns já cogitam uma aposentadoria do baiano. Para aqueles que conhecem a força de vontade de Rodrigo – que na infância foi atropelado por um caminhão e mesmo com os médicos dizendo que ele não voltaria a andar nunca desistiu –, podemos esperar que em breve ele enfrente outro monstro da categoria e dará a volta por cima.
 

Falar de religião sempre foi uma coisa polêmica. Mas a verdade é que, quando a coisa aperta, Deus sempre é chamado. Pedir ajuda, agradecer ou pedir perdão não o torna um religioso ou um homem com fé. A religiosidade no Brasil é tamanha que uns garantem que Deus é brasileiro, e ai de quem falar o contrário. As demonstrações de fé de inúmeros atletas de MMA nos motivaram a trazer a matéria de capa da edição que você tem em mãos. Passamos dois meses entrevistando padres, pastores, atletas evangélicos e cristãos para entender porque Deus é um fenômeno de popularidade também dentro dos ringues de Vale-Tudo. No Jiu-Jitsu, motivados pelas Olimpíadas de 2016 no Rio e pelo Conselho formado por grandes mestres - que promete montar uma nova Confederação com o objetivo de levar a arte suave para os Jogos -, fomos atrás das regras do COB (Comitê Olímpico Brasileiro) para saber o que é preciso para que o sonho olímpico se torne verdade. Se as Olimpíadas já fossem uma realidade, Aryzinho Farias seria um provável canditado a faturar um ouro para o Brasil. No Perfil deste mês trouxemos a história desse fenômeno, que com apenas 20 anos e ainda de faixa-marrom, conta com um invejável currículo e sonha em seguir os passos do seu ídolo, Ronaldo Jacaré. WM Title für Peter Mettler Français à la suite Peter Mettler konnte in Florida seinen lang ersehnten Traum erfüllen. Der gebürtige Brunner holte sich in der Kampfsportart Grappling gegen einen US-Amerikaner an der WM einen fordernden Finalsieg.  Peter Mettler brillierte am vergangenen Wochenende im US Bundesstaat Florida mit seinem Sieg an der Weltmeisterfinale. Der gebürtige Brunner stiess bei seinen Kämpfen in Fort Lauderdale in der Disziplin Gi-Grappling gegen seine Konkurrenten aus den USA, Serbien, und Frankreich mit vier Siegen bis in den Final vor. Dort stand im mit Cole Miller ein sehr erfahrener, 30-jähriger US-Amerikaner gegenüber. "Ich konnte zu Beginn des Kampfes schnell einmal durch einige schöne Würfe Punkte für mich verbuchen", sagte ein glücklicher Innerschweizer. Doch mit dem Verlauf des Finaldurchgangs wurde der Amerikaner immer stärker und konnte Mettler mittels Armgriff hart in Bedrängniss bringen. "Er brach mir beinahe den Arm, aber bei einer WM halte ich diesem Druck gerne stand". Am Ende reichte es für den 20-jährigen zum Weltmeistertitel in einer der stärksten besetzten Gewichtsklasse 74kg. Die Schweizer brillierten in den USA mit drei weiteren Medallien. Hinzu kamen die Gewinne von drei Bronze-Medallien (2-mal Sonja Räber und 1-mal Roland Laritz). In der No-Gi Wertung holte sich der im Brunner Niderz aufgewachsene Kämpfer in seiner Gewichtsklasse bis 74kg nach drei gewonnen und zwei verlorenen Durchgängen den guten fünften WM-Endrang. "Ich habe seit Jahren auf dieses Ziel hingearbeitet, und nun ist es mit dem Gewinn des Weltmeisterschaftstitels in Erfüllung gegangen. Das lange Quälen und die Entbehrungen haben sich vollends gelohnt", sagt ein überglücklicher Kampfsportler. Und Peter Mettler fügt hinzu, dass er seine Erfahrungen nur vermehrt auch als Trainer an den Nachwuchs weitergeben möchte. Bereits im kommenden März stehen dann in Polen die nächsten internationalen Titelkämpfe auf dem Saisonplan. Ce natif de Brunnen et membre de la Yogaka MMA Academy a été sacré Champion du Monde en 74kg dans le style Gi (avec kimono) en remportant la finale contre l'Américain de 10 ans son aîné, Cole Miller, combattant de l'UFC et membre de l'American Top Team. La finale fut mémorable avec Peter Mettler qui marqua deux points en début de match et qui se fit ensuite prendre dans un triangle couplé d'une clé de bras qu'il dut défendre pendant près de trois minutes. Peter Mettler avait déjà remporté la médaille d'or aux Championnats d'Europe qui s'étaient tenus au mois de septembre en Lituanie. Avec ces deux titres en poche, le grappler suisse s'impose définitivement comme l'un des meilleurs athlètes du moment. Le reste de l'équipe suisse a également remplit sa mission avec brio avec une médaille de bronze en 66kg Gi pour Roland Laritz de la Grappling Union Dornbirn et deux médailles de bronze en Gi et No-Gi pour Sonja Räber de la Yogaka MMA Academy. La prochaine échéance est fixée à la fin du mois de mars avec les Championnats du Monde de Grappling qui se dérouleront en Pologne et seront qualificatifs pour les SportAccord Combat Games. ORARIO INIZIO DELLA GARA: ore 10.30

DURATA DEGLI INCONTRI: 5 minuti.
SERIE: gli Atleti in base alla loro esperienza nella disciplina potranno iscriversi al torneo di 1° serie o di 2° serie. Nel caso in cui al torneo di 1° o di 2° serie ci sia un singolo iscritto, previo consenso degli interessati verrà accorpata la 1° e la 2° serie.
CATEGORIE DI PESO: 
Uomini: 60, 66, 74, 84, 96, 120 Kg., Open
Donne: 59, 67 Kg.
Potranno partecipare al torneo Open maschile solo i primi 4 classificati di ogni categoria di peso della 1° serie.
CONTROLLO DEL PESO: Gli atleti potranno scegliere se effettuare il controllo del peso il giorno della gara o il giorno precedente. Il controllo del peso degli atleti sarà effettuato sabato 19 dicembre dalle ore 17.00 alle ore 19.00, e domenica 20 dicembre dalle ore 09.00 alle ore 10.00 presso il Palaiseo, sede della competizione. Non sarà concessa nessuna tolleranza sul peso e si invitano gli atleti e gli allenatori a non chiedere deroghe a questa regola.
Al momento del controllo del peso gli atleti devono presentare un documento di identità valido che attesti l’età e pagare 15 euro di iscrizione. Inoltre devono firmare un documento in cui dichiarano di aver conseguito l’idoneità alla visita medica prevista dalla legge e di possedere il relativo certificato medico in corso di validità. Non è necessario portare il certificato medico alla gara.
ETA’ DEGLI ATLETI: Gli Atleti devono avere 16 anni compiuti. Gli atleti minorenni per partecipare alla gara devono presentare il consenso scritto dei genitori.
SISTEMA DELLA COMPETIZIONE: eliminazione diretta con ripescaggio. Saranno ripescati gli atleti che perderanno contro i due finalisti. Nelle categorie con meno di 6 atleti sarà usato il girone all’italiana. La FIGR si riserva la scelta del sistema di competizione da adottare in base al numero di iscritti alla gara.

In auto: Da Bologna: prendete la Tangenziale est con direzione Venezia; immettetevi successivamente nella tangenziale nord (A4) con direzione Torino e uscite a Cormano.
Da Venezia: seguite la tangenziale nord (A4) in direzione di Torino, ed uscite allo svincolo di Cormano.
Da Genova: prendete la tangenziale ovest verso Torino, e quindi la tangenziale nord con direzione Venezia, fino all’uscita di Cormano.
In treno: Dalla Stazione Centrale: prendere la metropolitana MM3 (linea gialla) direzione "Maciachini".
In aereo: Da tutti gli Aeroporti: prendere Shuttle Bus fino a Stazione Centrale.

Fighter of Switzerland is world champion in Florida

This last weekend, came the second World Championships in Grappling in the city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.


The Fighter Peter Mettler, brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu (Yogaka MMA Academy) Switzerland, was champion with kimono in the 2nd world championship organized by FILA Grappling .que happened in Florida, United States

I'm sitting in miami.... all of my body hurts.. i barely can move..... but i feel better than anytime before :) somehow, don't know why, i was capable of fullfilling a lifelong dream. and i managed to win -74kg gi grappling WM :) thanks to everybody, who ever supported me... and to all those who said i will never make it -> ha! take this"

TATAME #166: Brasileiros em rota de colisão

Com o número cada vez maior de confrontos entre brasileiros nos eventos internacionais, ficou comum ver atletas tupiniquins “reclamando” de ter que enfrentar compatriotas em terras estrangeiras. Após anos e anos assistindo a verdadeiras guerras no Pride, por que os brasileiros mudaram de opinião e não gostam mais de se enfrentar?

Após criarem o Vale-Tudo, a família Gracie desenvolveu o esporte enfrentando atletas tupiniquins de outras modalidades – salvo quando não eram desafiados por japoneses – para provar a supremacia do Jiu-Jitsu perante as outras artes marciais. O tempo foi passando e o Jiu-Jitsu continuava com rivalidades históricas contra atletas brasileiros de outras modalidades, como a Luta Livre e o Muay Thai. Na década de 90, quando o esporte tomou uma proporção ainda maior, Royce (EUA) e Rickson (Japão) passaram a provar a supremacia da arte contra atletas estrangeiros. A partir daí, o mundo abriu os olhos para o Vale-Tudo e o esporte, que antes era basicamente um duelo de estilos, passou a confrontar os atletas mais bem preparados.

O esporte cresceu no mundo inteiro, e competir no exterior defendendo o seu país sempre foi o sonho de todo lutador. Mas para chegar a um grande evento, os brazucas, em sua maioria, passam por uma verdadeira peneira nos eventos nacionais. Depois de encarar uma dezena de compatriotas, é natural que o atleta chegue ao exterior querendo enfrentar apenas lutadores estrangeiros, mas a realidade não é bem essa. No auge da rivalidade entre BTT e Chute Boxe nos palcos japoneses do Pride, enfrentar outro brasileiro da equipe rival era quase uma obsessão. Com o fim do Pride e a migração dos maiores atletas para o octagon americano do UFC, os brasileiros estão adotando uma postura mais nacionalista.

Os brasileiros têm torcido o nariz quando se cogita um duelo tupiniquim, mas o fato é que estamos no topo do ranking de todas as categorias e quando afunila, lá estamos nós, frente a frente, como nos tempos de peneira nos eventos nacionais. No embalo destes embates, Rogério Minotouro estreou no UFC 106 com vitória, diante do compatriota Luiz “Banha” Cane, e pode provocar mais duelos verde-e-amarelo na categoria em que Lyoto Machida é o campeão e Maurício Shogun seu desafiante ao título.

Mas o que seria de José Aldo se ele não aceitasse enfrentar outro brasileiro (Alexandre Pequeno) em sua estréia no WEC? With the increasing number of clashes between the Brazilian international events, it was common to see athletes tupiniquins "complaining" to have to face compatriots in foreign lands.After years and years watching the real wars in Pride, why Brazilians changed their minds and no longer like to face?

Hungarian Grappling Open

Ungarische Grappling Open Am vergangenen Wochenende vom 21. November fand in der schönen Stadt Budapest das 1. Ungarische Grappling Open statt. Auch eine Schweizer Delegation durfte an diesem grossen Turnier nicht fehlen. Angeführt von YOGAKA-Cheftrainer und Präsident des Swiss Grappling Comittees Rafael Perlungher, stellten sich 6 Kämpfer der Herausforderung. Es kämpften: Peter Mettler - 74kg Gi und No-Gi + Gi Open Gino Cattelan - 120kg Gi und No-Gi + No-Gi Open Sonja Räber - 63kg Gi und No-Gi Azmir Muslic - 84kg No-Gi Ardian Simoni  84kg No-Gi Storm Chadwick (Juniors) - 60kg Gi und No-Gi Das Turnier war sehr gut besetzt, und Kämpfer aus aller herren Länder traten an um den begehrten Titel ins Heimatland zu bringen. Am Ende erkämpfte das Schweizer Team die satte Anzahl von 6 Medaillen. Davon 2 Bronze, 1 Silber und sogar 3 Goldene. Der 20 Jährige Peter Mettler konnte in seiner Gewichtsklasse sowohl mit als auch ohne Gi alle Kämpfe gewinnen, alle durch Aufgabe und somit in beiden Kategorien den Sieg davon tragen. Und selbst in der offenen Gewichtsklasse mit Gi war keiner, der ihn an diesem Tag bezwingen konnte. Schliesslich wurde Mettler auch der Sondertitel für den besten Kämpfer des Turniers verlieren, eine besondere Ehre. Doch auch die Nachwuchstalente im Team kämpften äusserst beeindruckend! Das erst 18-jährige Schwergewicht Cattelan konnte eine silberne und zwei bronzene Medaillen erringen, und überraschte alle! Doch auch die weniger erfolggekrönten Kämpfer sollen nicht unerwähnt bleiben, Sie alle kämpften hervorragend und verlangten sich alles ab. Jedoch waren die Kategorien schlicht zu stark besetzt. Ein grosser Erfolg für das Schweizer Team, ein grosser Erfolg für das Grappling in der Schweiz, und auch ein grosser Erfolg für die YOGAKA MMA Academy, welche die gesamte schweizer Delegation stellte. 2009 Schweizer Meisterschaft im Grappling

2009 Schweizer Meisterschaft im Grappling Guten Abend meine Damen und Herren,  Am Samstag dem 14. November fand zum zweiten mal die offizielle Schweizermeisterschaft im Grappling statt. Sanktioniert von der FILA un organisiert vom Swiss Grappling Committee, fand sie in Aarau statt. Zahlreiche Sportler aus der ganzen Schweiz nahmen an diesem Wettkampf teil, um die Besten unter ihnen als Schweizermeister zu küren. Hervorzuheben sei hierbei die YOGAKA MMA Academy aus dem luzernischen Root. Sie konnte an die Dominanz des letzten Jahres anknüpfen und trat als stärkste Mannschaft auf. Sie konnte auch den Gesamttitel erringen, mit insgesamt drei Schweizermeistertiteln. Grappling ist eine Sportart deren Popularität geradezu explodiert! Dies ist verständlich, handelt es sich bei Grappling doch um eine äusserst attraktive Kampfsportart bei deren Ausübung es das Ziel ist, den Gegner ohne jegliche Schläge oder Tritte, allein mit ringerischen Aktionen (grappling -> eng. "to grab" = greifen) den Gegner dazu zu zwingen aufzugeben, und seine eigene Niederlage anzuerkennen. (Mehr info über Grappling). Auch in der Schweiz wächst die Bekanntheit und Beliebtheit dieser wiederentdeckten Sportart rapide, und sie hat sich inner kürzester Zeit zu einer Hochburg der Grapplings gemausert, beherbegt sie doch mehrere Welt- und Europameister. Dementsprechend war die Schweizermeisterschaft gut besetzt und die Athleten verlangten sich alles ab. Ein grosser Erfolg für die FILA, ein grosser Erfolg für das Grappling in der Schweiz, und natürlich auch ein grosser Erfolg für die frischgekürten Schweizermeister.
